Packed To The Rafters: Great Expectations - S05E02

8:30pm – Tuesday, April 24 on Seven

Dave narrates tonight’s episode of PACKED TO THE RAFTERS as he explores how our expectations, both of ourselves and others, help us make sense of the world – when those expectations are met, that is.

With an expanding business, new premises and a new employee, Dave has high hopes indeed. But it seems what Dave considers chivalry, Frankie considers sexism and she fights hard to earn respect on her own merits. When a sexist client gives Frankie a hard time on a job, Dave witnesses her struggle first hand and eventually must learn that the best person to stand up for Frankie – is Frankie. Coby too is having trouble adjusting to his new workmate. But is his disapproval masking deeper feelings?

The deadline for Julie’s first newspaper column is looming. As a subject continues to elude her, Julie comically procrastinates, scrubbing the house from top to bottom as she waits for inspiration to strike. In desperation, she runs with a suggestion from Dave she initially scoffed at. Fingers crossed her foray into the world of writing isn’t short-lived…

Despite his increasingly close relationship with Emma, Ben still hasn’t invited her to stay the night – another bridge to cross in his grieving process for Mel. But an unexpected event helps give him a push and he asks her to stay over. But in the morning Ben doesn’t feel the peace he was hoping for, prompting him to come up with a new solution.

Expectations abound for Carbo and Retta too, with Retta implementing a stringent savings plan in her quest to save a deposit for a house of their own. Reluctant Carbo is dragged kicking and screaming along for the ride…

Stress on Ted escalates when Cooper’s (guest star JARIN TOWNEY) sister makes another blackmail threat. Rattled, Ted makes a poor judgment call in his attempt to defuse her, making a delicate situation worse. He turns to Donna for advice and does his best to make amends. But is it too late?
