The contestants have had a ripper FYF’s week so far. How could it get better?
The contestants rock up to the top of the mountain for today’s task. They’ve conquered their fears, and now it’s time for something a bit different- a step back in time.
Challenge Brief: It’s time to reflect, which is important to move forward. There are 13 gates on a course, representing each weigh in. Each station has a weigh pack for the contestants representing how much they have lost that week. By the last gate, they will be as heavy as they were when they began.
They get ready and begin their hike. Kasey seems very nervous about this- she is crying already! They get to their first gate and contestants are already surprised- and this week (Week 13) was one of the lighter weeks. Kasey and Graham are very emotional. Then, gate after gate, the weight goes on. Some weeks add a lot onto the contestants- like Brenda after her 6.8kg loss. She is speechless over it and gets emotional. She reflects on her week. In makeover week, week 10, this is when the contestants saw changes- so how will they feel to have this reversed? Bek and Brenda have to put on all the weight they lost when they were eliminated. Bek got quite emotional here.
Week 9 is next and it was a big week for some, especially Graham. Gate by gate they continue. Week eight for Graham was big as he returned home for a training session. After a while, Kasey falls, and she has no idea how she will continue. She does, and she gets to the week where her team went bush.
The journey then continues further. As we move further back, the weight gets bigger. It begins to get to Alex, who is losing his breath and soon keels over.
Opinion point: What do you think about the reflection hike?
He ends up moving again and he gets to the next gate. Brenda finally comes back into the game at gate Week 3 when she was eliminated. A new weight. This makes her emotional. Week 2 and the contestants are all nearly back to their old weights. Kasey breaks down. She still has one more week to go.
Brenda hardly copes at the last gate. Margie too gets emotional. Bek and Alex also feel the pain. Graham is the last to buckle. He was disgusted in himself.
They then reach the top of the hill and take their backpacks off. The weight comes off for what should be the final time. Many contestants are sad and angry over their weight as they take it off.
After the break, to finish the episode, contestants are made to take a near-naked plunge into a frozen lake! It’s supposed to cleanse them.
Opinion point: Ice plunge. Needed?
Bek & Brenda go first and are first to find out that they won’t be wearing wet suits. Brenda will be first to take the plunge. It seems they get to wear some sort of suit- or is that what their thermals look like? Bek is next, but we’ll see that tomorrow.
