Previous Episode: The Block Season Five – House Reveal
Shelley is back to give more money out to struggling teams! Who will win?
The contestants rock up to the Botanical Gardens where Shelley is waiting for them all.
Challenge Brief: They have four jobs to complete today. Each job will earn them $10,000 in cash. The first team to complete all four jobs will receive the $40,000 and a choice- The Block Lock- which will keep them safe- or the Master Key- which will give them the opportunity to move into another block house!
Opinion point: What do you think of the twist?
Task 1: Contestants must use some tools to spray a circle in the ground before digging a hole in the turf and planting a tree.
Shelley feels Dale should have an advantage here, but it is Mike & Andrew who are doing well. Half way through and the boys hit a pipe. They may have to start all over again. The teams now begin to catch up but they have to make sure they don’t cut corners. Mike & Andrew recover well. Dan & Dani get their plant in the hole, as do the brothers.
Task 1 Result: The brothers finish first; Dan & Dani finish second, Sophie & Dale finish third with Brad & Lara finishing last.
Task 2: Contestants must make four beds to five-star standards.
Not as easy as you’d think. Dan & Dani aren’t doing well here- they didn’t know they have a linen trolley. Dan & Dani and Mike & Andrew get into a bed-messing frenzy. Brad & Lara shove an old woman out of a lift for the sake of competition!
Task 2 Result: Brad & Lara finish first, Sophie & Dale come second, Dan & Dani come third and Mike & Andrew come last
Task 3: Contestants must lay some gyprock on a wall.
Dale & Sophie shouldn’t do well here, but Brad & Lara are making it easy for them. They come first, and Sophie & Dale break their last piece of gyprock, pushing them further behind.
Task 3 Result: Brad & Lara come first, Dan & Dani come second, Mike & Andrew come third and Dale & Sophie come last.
Task 4: Of the thousands of lights, they must find five lights without globes and match them with the globes that belong with them.
Task 4 Result: Brad & Lara finish first and win the challenge. Dan & Dani gets the big key- which I didn’t think was in the rules.
Back at the block, Brad & Lara win the lock. Dan & Dani can choose whichever house they want to swap with.
Opinion point: In Dan & Dani’s position, what house would you take?
Dan & Dani’s Choice: They will keep their house.
And that little trick ends the episode.
