They set out to warn the rest of the class mates, but they’re too late – another teenager is found brutally murdered, his throat slit in a deserted waste ground.
Buchan uses the historical case of 50 Berkley Square to remind Chandler of what the Bogeyman is used for – to make people behave. Chandler realises his victims are being punished, and that spree killers have a history of lodging formal complaints – who was complaining about these kids.
