The 2012 Billboard Music Awards will be beamed live and exclusive from The MGM Grand in Las Vegas to Australia via FOX8 on Monday May 21st at 10.00 am AEST when both legendary music performers Whitney Houston and Stevie Wonder will be awarded for their outstanding contributions to the musical world.
Whitney Houston will be honored with the Billboard Millennium Award in a tribute performed by Jordin Sparks who plays Houston’s daughter in the upcoming remake of the film “Sparkle,” whilst Stevie Wonder will receive the Billboard Icon Award.
Whitney Houston holds the distinction of being the first artist ever to have seven consecutive No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100 .Her biggest hit, “I Will Always Love You,” spent 14 weeks atop the charts in 1993 and earnt 16 Billboard Music Awards throughout her career. The equally spectacular singer songwriter and producer Stevie Wonder who burst onto the music scene at ages 13, has amassed 32 No. 1 singles and released a string of iconic albums including “Songs in the Key of Life,” “Talking Book” and “Music of My Mind.”
Katy Perry, Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Carrie Underwood, LMFAO and CeeLo Green have all been confirmed to perform at this year’s awards show hosted by “Modern Family” co-stars Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell.
FOX8 will encore the awards again at 8.30pm AEST that evening.
