A father of two, Filippo comes from an Italian background and is a very proud family man. He talks on the phone to his Mum every day.
“I’m very confident, an extrovert – I’m very good at talking to people and have a 100% strike rate!”
Food is very much a social thing in Filippo’s family – “Italians talk about what they’re having for dinner tomorrow night, when at breakfast!”
One of his earliest food memories is in Sicily with lemons the size of footballs.
“We would eat the lemons with vinegar and salt.”
A financial planner with his own business, Filippo has put his clients and business on hold to pursue his MasterChef dream. He also has a business selling wood fired pizzas.
Filippo hopes to apply his wellhoned financial skills to a career in food by advising people in the industry or by being a career food writer and blogger.
“I want to monetise my passion for food.”
Filippo loves to make Italian and French inspired dishes for his friends and family. He also loves to bake bread from scratch – which he learnt from his Mum.
Filippo says his weakness is Asian food but hopes his “technical ” knowledge will help him go a long way.
