Paris will come alive with a frantic fortnight of tennis action starting Sunday as Fox Sports delivers complete live coverage of the 2012 French Open Championships.
Fox Sports will provide LIVE coverage of every day of the year’s second Grand Slam when play gets underway on Sunday 27 May at 7.00pm AEST on Fox Sports 2HD and Fox Sports 2.
LIVE coverage will continue throughout the fortnight culminating with the Women’s Final on Saturday 9 June and the Men’s Final on Sunday 10 June.
The country’s most recognised tennis commentator and analyst, Wally Masur, will be in Paris to call all the action for FOX SPORTS as the world’s best players contest what is universally regarded as the most physically demanding of all Grand Slams.
Having produced some of the most memorable moments in Grand Slam history, the famous clay courts are primed to deliver another fortnight of unmissable action with the men’s and women’s draws presenting two of the most even fields in recent years.
Australia will be represented with seven players in the main draw with the nation’s best chance of bringing home the silverware resting on World No. 5 and 2010 finalist, Samantha Stosur. While in the men’s draw, teenage sensation Bernard Tomic will be seeded at the tournament after achieving a career high ranking of World No. 28 this week.
Joining the two Queenslanders is former World No. 1 and wildcard recipient Lleyton Hewitt who will contest his first tournament since February this year. Matt Ebden, Jarmila Gajdosova, Casey Dellacqua, Anastasia Rodionova and junior Wimbledon champion Ashleigh Barty round out the Australian contingent.
Defending men’s champion, Rafael Nadal and women’s World No. 2, Maria Sharapova, are shaping as early favourites for the singles titles following impressive clay court seasons this year. World No. 1, Novak Djokovic, gunning for his fourth Grand Slam title in a row, and in-form Serena Williams will also be strong title contenders.
