Comedian Shaun Micallef has today spoken out about the future of his Network Ten panel comedy game show, Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation, further hinting that it won’t be returning to screens any time soon.
Speaking about his new show, Mad As Hell, to AdelaideNOW, Micallef said that he believed the show’s former cast members has ‘moved on’.
“I think everyone has moved on - Josh (Thomas) is doing a show for the ABC, Amanda’s got The Living Room and Charlie (Pickering) is busy with The Project,” Micallef said.
“There won’t be any more this year and I have a sneaking suspicion we won’t be back next year,” he adds.
He does however hint that a return of the show some stage in the future could be possible.
”Never say never.”
Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation launched on TEN in 2009 as a breakout hit, however ratings fell heavily year on year and by the conclusion of the third season in 2011, rumours of an axing were already circulating. The show was renewed for a shortened season this year, but ratings have continued to fall.
But speaking on his new show Mad As Hell, Micallef couldn’t resist pointing out the fact his show was in direct competition to TBYG cast member Amanda Keller’s new show, The Living Room.
“I think Amanda has a program called The Living Room on at the same time - we’ll separate the sheep from the goats,” Micallef joked.
“Really, I suspect we have different audiences.”
Mad As Hell begins Friday 25 May at 8pm on ABC1.
