Packed to the Rafters - Season 5 Episode 6: Secret Fears

This weeks episode is narrated by Dave Rafter.

Dave’s fear in life is losing Julie. Dave’s nightmare saw the house a mess, Ruby alone, something burning on the oven, Julie in bed and Adam walking in with nothing but a towel.

Carbo is so sure that they are having a daughter that he bought pink things already. Emma asks Ben if things are weird because she told him she loved him. Ben said things are fine, he’s just thinking about the next 8 months with the baby. Ben chats to Ruby about how he feels about Emma – like or love? Does it matter if he actually feels it, he knows he’ll feel it later.

Coby is excited that Frankie is coming over to look at his artwork that he made for her which is of the two bluebirds that she had wanted for a tattoo. When Frankie came over Coby was really nervous, he ironed his shirt and burnt it, he then put the iron in the cupboard with his shirt after he had put water on the iron. He eventually showed Frankie the painting and she loved it. When Coby invites Frankie for a drink, he finally shows her how he feels about her but Frankie rejects him.

Julie & Dave had a little fight. Dave thinks that doing the books for his company is important as it is their livelihood and he called Julie’s job at the newspaper a “thing”. Julie reacted badly saying that she wants him to know that its important to her and he should treat it that way. Dave told Julie that he was hurt when Jake said that Dave wasn’t his dad.

Jake, Sian, Frankie, Retta, Carbo, Matt, Emma and Ben are all watching a footy game at Carbo’s. Jake invites Dave over when he runs into Dave & Julie returning home from their date on a beer run but Dave declines.

Dave dreams that Julie & Adam are going on a date and that Jake quit. Those secret fears are getting out of control.

Adam offers Julie a job as content co-ordinator while someone goes on maternity leave two days a week.  Julie speaks to Dave about it and he thinks that she should do it.

Dave can’t do anything about Adam but he can do something about Jake – its time to face his fears.

Sian & Frankie discuss Jake & Coby. Sian realises that Frankie has a crush on Dave.

To ease the tension between Dave & Jake Matt had an idea that they play guatair and they start to sing Working class man. Jake’s dad interrupted and declared that he will stay out of his life but that he is proud of him. Dave asks Jake if he is alright and Jake replied with all good.  Jake finally tells Dave all that has happened. Jake admitted that Dave has been more of a dad to him then his real dad has ever been.

Dave tells Julie about his dream about Adam. Julie tells him not to worry and laughs at him. Sometimes the best way to handle our secret fears is to say them out loud.

Ben tells Emma that he loves her.. but does he really?

When you finally speak your fears you might suddenly be free of them…. or saying your fears out loud might just mean your passing your fears along

Next week… Ben & Emma go on an adventure.
