Previous Episode: The Celebrity Apprentice Australia Season Two – Challenge & Elimination #5
They’re dropping like flies, but more shall follow. Who will be going tonight?
The Contestants meet the execs at Macquarie Lighthouse for tonight’s challenge brief. Ann Sherry, president of P&O cruises.
Challenge Brief: Teams must create and perform an entertaining welcome show that incorporates P&O’s brand messages. They must also participate in tasks in order to prepare the next cruise. The team who creates the best customer service and the best experience will win $30,000.
Teams: Charlotte joins Team Platinum. Ben and Nathan are made to join Team Fortune.
Project Managers: Nathan for Team Fortune. Dicko for Team Platinum.
They then head out to prepare their shows. Dicko comes up with an idea and vows that unless someone else has a better idea, it will stick. The other team are also swept up with coming up with ideas- and they think of doing a send up of the safety drill. God I hate Ben’s laugh.
Team Platinum goes to music rehearsals and Dicko announces his plan for a silent movie. It’s a bit of a romance by the sounds of things. Team Fortune is already at a stage talking up a weird story. Vince and Ben have this ‘are you having fun yet police?’ sketch, where people just honk when someone is doing something that is not fun. After five minutes, Nathan shuts them down. It’s not funny at all.
Opinion point: whose show is better?
Team Platinum is going well with their planning, but there is some concern that they are not getting the messages they need to across. Out getting props, it seems Lauryn and Nathan are getting into some sort of relationship! Nathan even admits to something going on!
Ben and Vincent write songs to include the brand messages while Team Platinum feels the wrath of Dictator Dicko who is trying to keep everyone in his control. MWHAHAHAHA. In a car ride with Charlotte, Jason comes up with some poetry!
Lauryn and Nathan practice scenes…which involve the two kissing. Oh, fancy that! Unfortunately Nathan isn’t even able to lift Lauryn in his arms, haha.
The contestants then go for cleaning duties. Dicko thinks they look smart but Charlotte and Acker are not very happy. Their challenge is to clean two suites, collect the luggage of the passengers and put wine in the rooms AND make a towel elephant, in two hours. Nathan thinks Vincent would be good at the towel elephant because it is like origami and Vincent looks Asian. Right. Meanwhile, Jason gets the cleaning products necessary for the challenge…but forgets the mop, annoying Dicko. This is fun!
The contestants begin their main cleaning shifts with Charlotte frantically cleaning the toilets and Jason not having much luck finding a mop! He does get the wine basket though. Meanwhile, Ben places a chemical rack on a canapé plate, landing him in hot water. Team Platinum are missing cutlery, so they steal some from another room. They finish one room and are inspected. I think Team Fortune won this one. Charlotte actually knocks some glass over during inspection.
Opinion point: Whose room looked better?
Before performance, Team Fortune play it safe by cutting out anything that could be remotely offensive, like a sailor kissing a passenger. After the break, the audience awaits for show time! Vince is excited but Ben just wants to get it done. First up is Team Fortune. Nathan and Lauryn were quite nervous and found the crowd daunting, but Vince was great. Their song to get the messages across was quite lame. So was their bubble pirate idea. But a nervous Lauryn actually took the show! She was quite good all things considering. Nathan’s singing just made me laugh. They seem to entertain the crowd enough.
Team Platinum are next and the stage has been set! I personally think this one is better. It’s more humorous and less cringy.
Opinion point: Whose performance was better?
Even though Charlotte was a bit late with one of the silent-movie cards, it was all really well done. And with that, the challenge is over.
The Boardroom
Mark walks in after the contestants and asks them a few questions. He first talks with Ann who says Team Platinum only got one cabin cleaned while the other team were a bit sloppy. They did a good job overall. Ann thought the entertainment was amazing.
Answers to Questions: Nathan said he fought this time to win money for this charity. He thinks he had the right tools around him to win and Mark catches the Freudian slip. Vince thought this would have been great to Project Manage but he wanted to focus more on the show. Ben said he wasn’t happy with the idea of performing. Lauryn discusses her lack of performance skills. Dicko thought he was well qualified to get over the line. Dicko thinks Charlotte has male attributes which he finds appealing. He says Jason is a champion but he is a maverick. Jason thinks it was a fair perception of him. He says his maverick side is perceived as negative, which he thinks is not right. Nathan thinks he was focussed, as was his team, in the customer service challenge. Deb reads out the concerns- like the canapés having been left underneath the chemicals and how Vincent stole cutlery. Haha, I loved hearing these again. Nathan thinks it was unacceptable. Vincent explains himself, saying he borrowed the cutlery, not stole it, as it was replaced with the cutlery that was supposed to go in their room. Mark tells them they shouldn’t have ever taken the risk with the canapés. Charlotte discusses her toilet cleaning obsession and blames it as the reason why they didn’t complete both rooms. Dicko notices they fell down on time, but feels they did well on the room they did. Jason talks about his mishaps. Dicko says their target audience for the entertainment was an older audience. He discusses the entertainment. Vince then discusses his comedy show. Nathan discusses their tagline. Ben thought it was a strong and powerful sentence. Mark then probes the chemistry between Lauryn and Nathan.
Money Raised: The winner of the $30,000 will go to Team Fortune and Nathan’s charity, Epilepsy Australia.
Team Platinum will head into elimination.
What Went Wrong? They talk about brand messaging and Charlotte thought theirs was bang on. Charlotte didn’t know what Ann’s criticism about it was as everyone looked entertained. Jason would love to tell Ann that she was wrong. Mark shuts him down for this. Dicko thinks there will always be a fine balance between the message and entertainment. Dicko says Jason challenged him sometime while Charlotte didn’t. Charlotte says she should have brought more.
Elimination results
Charlotte, Jason & Dicko are automatically up for Elimination.
Charlotte: Deb thinks she is strong and courageous. Charlotte would go forward with Acker, strategically, however Dicko would be a better leader.
Dicko: Dane says it is hard for him to find a weakness, but wonders if he is too dominant. Deb thinks he is cocky and that he should realise he is not infallible. Dicko would like to go with Charlotte.
Jason: Dane wonders if Jason’s overreactions are him being a sore loser or just him. Jason would like to take Dicko and is disappointed he’d take Charlotte over him.
Elimination Result: Jason Akermanis…You’re fired.
To say Jason didn’t take it well is an understatement. He tells Mark off for calling him a Maverick and says he made a bad decision. He is wrapped because he got good money for his charity. He drops a chair in a very edited scene. Still, I love a bit of controversy.
The Celebrity Apprentice Australia next airs May 9 at 8PM on Nine.
