Previous Episode: The Block Season Five – Scott Challenges The Contestants
I bet these contestants will want nothing more at the end of this week than a good wash…so they better hurry up with those master bathrooms!
The rooms are coming along, but this episode is too long for nothing to go wrong in it! It’s going to be a long day for Dale. Brad & Lara now have a completed and good underlay, so now the tilers can move in! Andrew & Mike are already getting tilers in. They also make sure to keep up with their budgets. Meanwhile, Sophie and Lara go to a style house for some ideas. Sophie wants to go for an out there style, but she doesn’t want to disappoint the judges again. Back at home, Dale & Sophie’s tiles have been done in no time!
The day has been surprisingly smooth sailing as tiles are laid left right and centre. Meanwhile, Dan is building a soap rack for Dani however they begin to argue over the size of the drill bit. Meanwhile, Keith visits Dale & Sophie to see that they are using a cupboard wall as a shower wall. Keith isn’t sure it will be waterproof. They may have to order another screen, which will take too much time. Sophie is not happy with this and takes it out on Dale. Meanwhile, the brother’s bathroom is taking shape fast, as a contrary. Dan seems to also be on track, finding time to shout his team of tradies beer and pizza.
Earlier in the week, Dale had a go at Dan for using tools outside of curfew but now, Dale is in the wrong so Dan goes and ‘sort’ him out. The next day is yet another productive day. Dan starts the day off by cleaning while Dan & Dani pick out whitegoods for their laundry in their bathroom.
After a week of problems, Brad & Lara still have more work to do to get their glass installed. This includes fixing up some cracks. They’re hard at it! Dan & Dani meanwhile come home and they seem to be stress free. Meanwhile, back at Brad & Lara’s, Keith tells them that they have to install hundreds of joints below their heavy bath before they can install it. Brad can’t believe this- they thought they fulfilled all the briefs. This sets Brad back heaps of time. They have to pull their plumbing out. Apparently they were told this would happen. Crushing news. To make matters worse, their builder Asho is taking time off.
After the break, Shelley and Scott go for a sneak peak at the rooms. Sophie has now agreed that Dale’s wardrobe-wall idea has to stay. The hosts go to inspect and seem impressed. They then go to see Brad & Lara and again, they were positive. The couple needs it! They are also impressed by Mike & Andrew’s ideas. To Dan & Dani’s house and they are gasping at the expense of the bathtub.
After the break, Brad & Lara find out a tradie dropped a plank on their window sill, denting it. Thank god there was no glass, but it gets Lara down. Meanwhile, Dale gives Stegbar the wrong measurements and they have to cut the glass to fit it through the door. Unfortunately, it doesn’t go to plan. Some of it cracks, but they’ll just have to cut it a little shorter.
Again, Dan & Dani and Mike & Andrew are just relaxing. They’ve done great jobs. But the couples put this down (Dan & Dani’s success) to the amount of money they have won. Lara is very annoyed that they always whinge about money despite winning so much.
The episode ends with the contestants wrapping up their week thus far.
The Block next airs May 18 at 7PM on Nine.
