Previous Episode: Daylesford Designing Challenge
This week, contestants finish their final bedrooms and renovate their halls. But are their halls hallowed with success?
We’re at the half way mark and contestants continue work on this week’s rooms after yesterday’s challenge. This year, their hallway also includes the stairs and the wall going up them. So with a massive guest bedroom to do as well; this week is big. They all hope nothing goes wrong, but I don’t think that will happen. Lara manages to stab her shin on some nails and it begins to bruise. Meanwhile, Sophie & Dale are hoping for a winning room this week. With their arguing still prevalent, I don’t know if that will happen. But apparently, it is Brad & Lara who have the biggest job ahead of them, having the biggest house and all. Thankfully they don’t argue as much, but we get insight into how tedious it can be for them to reach decisions.
Meanwhile, Scott steps in to solve another one of Sophie & Dale’s arguments. Dale wants carpeted stairs but Sophie wants sanded and reinvented wood stairs. Scott goes for Sophie’s restoration idea and while Dale lets her have it her way, he does so hesitantly. Scott offers to help her sand it but Sophie doesn’t want to. She manages one step, but Dale is still not happy!
Meanwhile, Tania & Rod come to help Dan & Dani with their metal work, which they want to use on their staircase. Brad & Lara are repainting their staircase posts while Sophie & Dale are still arguing. Dale is getting really angry now.
After the break, Keith goes to visit all four houses to show them how to properly insulate and plaster their rooms so there are no problems like there have been in the past. Meanwhile, Dan & Dani are trying to work out whether they should remove the hallway arch. If they do, they have to buy expensive steel support posts. Dan is more for saving money and keeping the arch, however Dani really wants it knocked down. She wants to argue her case.
Meanwhile, the brothers hang their plaster a day early, and I don’t think Keith has seen their insulation yet. The next day, Keith goes to inspect the soundproofing insulation and he is happy with most of them. Brad however has also hung ceiling plaster and Keith is annoyed. Argumentative Asho thinks he should be happy, but because he’s not, he now has to cut a section out of the ceiling. Same goes for the brothers. Unfortunately for them, they haven’t done soundproofing properly, so they have to take off all their plaster and redo it.
After the break, Scott gives Dan some advice on how to say no to Dani. They begin to build up cases as to whether or not they should demolish their archway.
After the break, Shaynna finally takes Dale & Sophie on that shopping trip. They go to exclusive stores for ideas and items to buy.
The day winds down and contestants make progress, but there is plenty more to do.
