The Block Season Five – Third Floor Week Takes It To The Next Level

Previous Episode: The Block Season Five – 24-Hour Renovation Task

Third floor week. It’s the first time its ever happened and its turning out to be a bloodbath of a week!

The contestants are WAY behind on their rooms this week, and many blame it on Keith’s tradies who are holding everyone up. Apparently room delivery is an ‘impossible dream’. Yeah, right. Keith says his contractors are letting him down. To the contestants, it’s no excuses. The contestants are also battling fund issues. Some of them decide to use some of their vouchers.

The problem now with Keith is getting the scaffolding down however the tradies have been ‘canned’. This is because there’s so much to do, but on closer inspection, there’s nothing on the scaffolding and there’s nothing keeping them up. Keith is on the phone, and he’s not happy. Meanwhile, contestants go out for a bit of a shop to get elements of style and furniture for their rooms together. Again, Dan & Dani argue. Brad & Lara are up to buying garden implements for their decking! I guess they now have money to spend after Tuesday’s challenge.

Sophie & Dale’s chippie has made an awesome office desk for their study, and they’re very impressed. They then debate on where to put shelves. Meanwhile, Keith is still dealing with mutinying tradies. He pulls them back on board and that scaffolding comes down. Meanwhile, Dan is not happy with the solar panels on their roof, which overhangs their rooftop opening. The team debates on the best way to cover it. Keith gives them some advice. He sticks up for Dan, which pisses Dani off more.

Meanwhile, things for Brad & Lara’s laundry/bar arrive and they begin the slog to get them all upstairs. Meanwhile, despite a simple set up, Dan & Dani begin to argue again about how to set things up in terms of the decking. Dani is envious of other people’s decking, annoying Dan further.

Andrew & Mike are building a sophisticated utility room and their apprentice, Cam, can’t see it getting complete. A day before reveal and no work has begun on the dividing wall and Sophie thinks they’ll get penalised. They begin to argue as Dale shuts down her idea of an effort invoking makeshift wall. God it’s so dramatic! Meanwhile, shops are about to shut, so contestants have to be on their A-game to get things done in time. Mike can’t find their car keys and apparently their car is across town after a big night out. How will he get to the shops? Apparently, Dale had the keys. They now have just under 2 hours to buy everything for their deck.

So much stuff is going on, and Sophie thinks it is an impossible task to get the rooms done on time properly. Shelley and Scott then visit the rooms. They go to Sophie & Dale’s room first and love their rustic timber wallpaper in their study. They also seem impressed with their deck and the view. Next up is Mike & Andrew and they seem to love the complex room, involving a wet bar, bedroom, laundry and kitchen! It’s like the perfect men’s den. Not much happening on their deck. They then go to Brad & Lara and are surprised at their idea of having three fridges upstairs. Shelley doesn’t like that they’re sacrificing vital space where they could have had a full washer and dryer (They have a two-in-one machine). Last up is Dan & Dani. They like their choice in furniture and Shelley mistakes a replica armchair for a real one! They also like the view from the deck, and Dan & Dani are apparently trying to block that sunset view from Brad & Lara.

The Block next airs Jun 1 at 7PM on Nine.
