Previous Episode: The Block Season Five – Unlocked Week 6
Contestants have had to renovate a stairwell, a hallway and another bedroom! Will the quantity of their work affect their quality?
The contestants sleepily awake to MORE work ahead of room reveal. It seems most couples have at least almost finished their stairwells as their guests bedrooms start to take shape. Mike is still sleeping despite a barrage of noise coming from the team of tradies around him. Andrew is taking to the task to get them all to finish the third bedroom. They find out that their insulation is saturated from overnight rain and they must rectify this before down lights are installed. Andrew blames Keith and Keith blames the plastering company. They begin to argue. Honestly. Meanwhile, Brad & Lara are arguing with their sparkie on the amount of down-lights their room should have. They go buy artwork. Well, Lara does. Brad just sits in the car!
Andrew also goes out to buy some furniture. Back at the block, Keith finds out the brother’s insulation is only a tiny bit wet, and they can go ahead with the down lighting. Brad & Lara find a nice light and Brad is surprised how easy shopping is! Speaking of lights, Andrew’s sparkie is waiting to install the hallway lights however Andrew isn’t there. He soon returns with 20 minutes to spare. He has also bought a few expensive items. Meanwhile, Sophie & Andrew have also picked out some features for their guest bedroom.
Anyway, that night, after noise curfew, Dan hears noise coming from Brad & Lara’s house. Many people aren’t having any sleep tonight. Instead, they all dance to Lionel Ritchie. Brad & Lara then go to sleep.
The next day, they all put their finishing touches on their houses before Scotty calls time up. Not before Dale’s alter ego, Donga comes in to help with the cleaning and Dan & Dani argue a bit more.
Room Reveal Score
This year, contestants are scored out of 30- 10 points per judge. Darren Palmer is in for John tonight.
Dan & Dani’s room
Neale Whitaker: Agrees pretty much with everything Shaynna says He says the stairway doesn’t work at all. Doesn’t think the colour of the stairwell is good either. Doesn’t know how some of the art in the bedroom works.
Shaynna Blaze: Loves the colour and the artwork. She doesn’t like the lego-like archway. She likes the execution of the stairwell. Notices the size of the fan in the bedroom. She calls the bedroom ‘small and lovely’.
Darren Palmer: Doesn’t like the stairway either. Loves the wallpaper in the bedroom, as does everyone. Likes the storage and study space. Loves the bed head.

Dale & Sophie’s room
Neale Whitaker: Loves the hallway, says it has wallpaper and likes the wall in particular. Neale says the wall however is not for everyone. In the bedroom, he says the room has a sense of humour and is clever. Would be happy to jump in bed!
Shaynna Blaze: Loves the hallway, says it has personality. Loves the natural staircase. Says they have balance. Loves the storage in the bedroom. Can see a kid loving this.
Darren Palmer: Darren loves the hallway. They all love the light. To the bedroom and he laughs at the bunny head on the wall.

Brad & Lara’s room
Neale Whitaker: Calls the archway gorgeous. Loves the light and says they’ve preserved the house’s dignity well. Says everything in the bedroom is really nice.
Shaynna Blaze: Likes their archway. Says the light looks like you’re looking up someone’s skirt. Loves the colour balance in the bedroom.
Darren Palmer: Likes the detail in the arch. Says the hallway is keeping with the style. Darren looks at the lighting and doesn’t like the amount of down lights as there are too many (remember how this was Lara’s problem with it when the sparkie suggested it! Seems as if Lara was RIGHT!)

Mike & Andrew’s room
Neale Whitaker: Calls the hallway ‘white’. Wants to see personality. There’s no ‘wow’. He likes the colour pallet in the bedroom. His favourite things are the bedside lamps. He says their bedroom is confused.
Shaynna Blaze: Loves some of the features of the hallway, like the carpet, but calls it boring. Likes the bed head in the bedroom and says they have lost the styling ‘big time’.
Darren Palmer: Loves the floor. Doesn’t like the amount of pillows on the bed. Darren likes the carpet and drapes.
Shaynna: 6.5
Darren: 7
Neale: 6.5
