Commentary from the Game of Thrones season one DVD has revealed that while it was Sansa Stark’s father’s head that King Joffrey had put up on a spike on the wall, there was another famous face who had been decapitated.
“The last head on the left is George Bush. George Bush’s head appears in a couple of beheading scenes. It’s not a choice, it’s not a political statement. We just had to use whatever head we had around.”
And a close up:
Does anyone seriously believe they didn’t have a choice as to whether or not to use the head of a former president? And why did they have a prop of George Bush’s head lying around anyway? I doubt very much that there wasn’t a hint of anything political behind it either.
