Previous Episode: The Amazing Race Australia Season Two – Philippines – India
India is such a big country with so much to offer- let’s just send them around for a little longer! Who will be eliminated tonight?
TEAMS:
Shane & Andrew – Cops
Michelle & Jo – Cheerleading Twins
Sticky & Sam – Flatmates
James & Sarah – Dating
Sue & Teresa – Hairdressers
Ross & Tarryn – Father/Daughter
Lucy & Emilia – Sisters
Kym & Donna – Engaged
Joseph & Grace – Brother/Sister
Paul & Steve – Workmates
We begin in Jaipur where the contestants were taken to from the last pit stop. They get their first clue for leg three.
Instruction: Travel by rickshaw to the red elephant temple.
Sticky & Sam leave first in first place at 9am. It isn’t long before their driver gets lost. The cheerleaders leave at 9.02am in second place. Ross & Tarryn and Sue & Teresa leave in fourth and third place respectively. Kim & Donna and Paul & Steve leave quite a bit later. Shane & Andrew leave soon after. No one else seems to have problems with their drivers. By the time Grace & Joseph and James & Sarah leave, it’s almost 10am. Lucy & Emilia are last to leave.
At the temple, the contestants have to go through a ritual before receiving their first roadblock.
Roadblock: Who’s a Fast Learner? Teams must master the streets of Jaipur by going through a driving test involving a sign-identification stage and a practical stage.
Here, contestants have to choose one person to undertake the challenge. Ross, Sticky and Kym are among the contestants partaking in this challenge. I do like the cheerleader’s explanation of the sign test. They bunny hop a bit, but they seem to do OK. Sticky surprises the instructor by driving the manual car one handed. A car crashes into him, which could be a problem despite the crash not being his fault.
Ross goes quite fast, and it is a bit nerve-racking. Sue & Teresa are just hilarious, spreading their cleansing spray around the car!
In the end, the cheerleaders finish first. Kym & Donna are only just starting their race. Sue & Teresa finish third after Sticky & Sam and soon make it to the pot challenge. Paul & Steve are having their lesson but they keep stalling their car. Shane & Andrew are quite funny as they become paranoid at being picked up by the local authorities. Paul & Steve and Kym & Donna meet at some lights and attempt to drag, however Paul & Steve stall again! Grace is asked to do this challenge, but even Joseph admits her insurance company doesn’t think she is the best driver! Sarah makes good use of the horn. Kym & Donna, Paul & Steve and Shane & Andrew finish the challenge soon after. James & Sarah finish and begin the next challenge quite late.
Instructions: Teams must now stack an Ox cart with 75 pots and deliver them to a vendor at the other side of the markets. Breaking more than 15 pots will incur a penalty.
Sticky & Sam are JUST behind the cheerleaders. Sue & Teresa and Ross & Tarryn are close behind also. The cheerleaders are having some good fun learning how to pull an ox! They are doing well, but the ox speeds up and their pots smash everywhere. I think they’ve incurred a penalty. Sticky & Sam are in the same boat. If everyone does the same, the penalties may cancel out!
The cheerleaders and Sticky & Sam have to serve a 15 minute penalty. Sue & Teresa break most of their pots before leaving the pen! Ross & Tarryn also have little luck. Will anyone do well? This could be a good opportunity to get out in front. Paul knocks off heaps of Kym & Donna’s pots with his backpack which he claims was an accident. Game on?
After finishing the time penalty, the cheerleaders get the next clue. Ross & Tarryn are the first team not to break 15 pots and leave in second place. Kym & Donna have to take a penalty, as do Paul & Steve. Shane & Andrew begin but break a few pots. Can they make it? Kym & Donna and Paul & Steve finish their penalty and begin their next challenge. Meanwhile, Lucy & Emilia have a go and break a few pots. Shane & Andrew and Joseph & Grace don’t break any pots, and get to move on straight away. Meanwhile, some kids come along and knock some pots off of Lucy & Emilia’s cart. They have to take a penalty, and with James & Sarah’s successful stint, they are in last place.
Roadblock: Team’s must head to a Step well to use a combination of exactly 41 steps down and 10 steps ‘up’ to reach a guru for their next clue.
The girls find it hard to get a rickshaw with Sticky & Sam breathing down their neck. It’s Ross & Tarryn who begin second with Sticky & Sam and Sue & Teresa beginning the challenge soon after. It’s a puzzling puzzle! Just to let you all know, at this point, Joseph & Grace only JUST finish the car challenge with Lucy & Emilia.
Meanwhile, Sticky & Sam finish the stair challenge first! Ross & Tarryn seem poised to finish second, but represent Tarryn isn’t having much luck. She does get it for second place, which is a relief. Sue has a go for her team, but has a slow start. The cheerleaders are still working this out!
They soon get it in third place. It’s now Donna who is struggling. Paul & Steve now begin and Paul now has to prove he is in fact a mind-challenge master! He does in fact get the puzzle down pat in first go, finishing in fourth place. Kym and Steve meanwhile have an argument about the pot incident. Donna is next to finish the challenge. Paul & Steve block Kym & Donna’s rickshaw in, giving them a better lead.
James & Sarah begin their challenge with Shane & Andrew having just finished it. Joseph also starts it soon. Sue & Teresa are still going! Joseph finishes quickly. James is then next to finish. It’s now a chase between Shane & Andrew and Joseph & Grace.
By this time, the race is down to Sue & Teresa and Lucy & Emilia. The funny Italian sisters could have a chance. Against Sue & Teresa, a big personality team will be going home (maybe). Somehow, Lucy & Emilia get the job done quickly and pass Sue & Teresa. Sue finishes soon after and they do have a chance to take over.
Pit Stop: Already?! Something’s going on (UPDATED: Actually, no, it seems it does take half an episode for both the first AND last team to reach the pit stop)! Teams must go to Nahargarh Fort where the pit-stop is waiting for them. Sticky & Sam have problems with their rickshaw driver after he demands more money than they have, wasting time. Sticky & Sam do find money and quickly make it to the pit stop with Ross & Tarryn close behind.
PIT STOP
Here’s how teams went:
First: STICKY & SAM (Win $5,000 Home Entertainment System from Bing Lee)
Second: ROSS & TARRYN
Third: MICHELLE & JO
Fourth: KYM & DONNA
Fifth: PAUL & STEVE
Sixth: SHANE & ANDREW
Seventh: JOSEPH & GRACE
Eighth: JAMES & SARAH
Ninth: LUCY & EMILIA
Tenth: SUE & TERESA
Result: As the last team to arrive, Sue & Teresa HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED FROM THE AMAZING RACE AUSTRALIA
So not my favourite team to leave, but out of the bottom two, I think the least entertaining team went. Hopefully we can get some of the boring ones off soon, but for now, I’m glad the Italian sisters are still in.
The Amazing Race Australia next airs June 20 at 9PM on Seven.
