The Amazing Race Australia Season Two – UAE - Turkey

Previous Episode: The Amazing Race Australia Season Two – India – UAE

One team was arrested; one team completed one more challenge than anyone else and still managed to keep a healthy position and one team practically quit! What will happen tonight?

TEAMS:

Shane & Andrew – Cops

Michelle & Jo – Cheerleading Twins

Sticky & Sam – Flatmates

James & Sarah – Dating

Ross & Tarryn – Father/Daughter

Lucy & Emilia – Sisters

Joseph & Grace – Brother/Sister

Paul & Steve – Workmates

James & Sarah depart first from the pitstop (Burj Khalifa) at 5.47am.

Instruction 1: Teams have to make their way to Jumeirah Beach Hotel Marina and await the ‘Dubai Pearl’, find the skipper and find their next clue.

They all depart in their respective order from last episode; however it’s going to take time for the Pearl to arrive, so many of the teams arrive before the boat does. It seems the theme for tonight will be giving people advantages with James & Sarah arguing after James gave some hints to other teams. Shane & Andrew are on their way but taxi driver issues plague them again. He takes them to the wrong Marina. Paul & Steve overtake them and when they arrive at the Marina, the other teams make them paranoid that they’ve forgot to do something.

They and Grace get into a very heated argument. Soon, the Dubai Pearl arrives and Paul & Steve are first to the skipper.

Detour:

COUNT ‘EM UP: Teams must count a sack of dried limes correctly. (PAUL & STEVE, MICHELLE & JO, JAMES & SARAH (Swap to PRICE ‘EM UP), ROSS & TARRYN, STICKY & SAM (Swap to PRICE ‘EM UP), SHANE & ANDREW, GRACE & JOSEPH (Swap to PRICE ‘EM UP), LUCY & EMILIA)

PRICE ‘EM UP: Teams must travel to a jewellery store and arrange a selection of jewellery into order of value.

Paul keeps going on about how much he was bullied at school. Maybe he should stop channelling that through his personality…or not- because they are an entertaining villainous pair!! Michelle & Jo begin the counting task. Everyone seems to go for this one.

Sticky & Sam swap to Price ‘Em Up due to taxi troubles. It seems the jewellery task is the easier of the two. No one is getting the counting one right. Paul & Steve guess correctly due to Paul’s high IQ first and get the clue. Michelle & Jo are next to finish while Paul & Steve begin on the jewellery part of the challenge and complete it quickly. Sticky & Sam are still having issues, but not for long. Ross & Tarryn finish in fifth place. Sarah & James and Joseph & Grace change challenges. Joseph & Grace quickly pass the task and surprisingly, Lucy & Emilia leave next.

Instruction: Travel on foot to the Deira Old Souq Station and search for the next clue. ANNONYMOUS U-TURN AHEAD.

So the boys may have another challenge on their hands, but won’t know who U-turned them! Shane & Andrew get there first and U-turn Paul & Steve…in front of Paul & Steve. They then head to the next clue. Paul & Steve get the clue third behind Michelle & Jo and the cops. The cheerleaders have worked with Emirates and therefore have a schedule handy.

Instruction: Fly to Istanbul, Turkey and travel to the Blue Mosque and find the sultan who will hand them their next clue.

Flight 1, Arrives 6.55am: ALL TEAMS

Steve & Paul and Joseph & Grace get the early lead in Turkey. In a foot race, Paul knocks Grace over, causing a brutal confrontation to erupt. In my opinion, it was a complete accident- though Grace wouldn’t know that because she was too preoccupied going OTT. Still, Paul & Steve make it to the mosque first.

Road Block: Teams must make their way to Hagia Sophia where they must memorise eight Arabic symbols and travel to a basilica and order the symbols in a particular order. They will be allowed to return to the Hagia only once to check their answers. As with all road blocks, only one team member will get to participate.

Paul and Jo are competing for their teams and Paul tries to differentiate the eight symbols. Grace is competing for her couple. Lucy competes for the sisters and they are just taking the piss out of the Hagia, which is just so funny to watch. This isn’t serious for them at all. Sam is competing for Sticky & Sam. I think it is Andrew for the cops and Ross for his team. Sarah is competing for her team.

The villains finish first and to get the clue, they have to put their hands into a leech infested pond! It’s the clue to the next pit stop. Michelle & Jo finish second. Joseph & Grace and Sticky & Sam finish third and fourth respectively followed by Shane & Andrew. Ross has a frustrating time and blows a fuse, causing a blow up between the two. He considers a four hour penalty which James & Sarah takes first, thinking one of the other teams will do the same. Lucy & Emilia finish next and head to the pit stop. Ross & Tarryn also take a four hour penalty (obviously not realising James & Sarah have).

PIT STOP: Istanbul Archaeological Museum

FIRST: PAUL & STEVE (Action-Packed trip to the Australian Rally Championship worth $10,000)

SECOND: MICHELLE & JO

THIRD: STICKY & SAM

FOURTH: JOSEPH & GRACE

FIFTH: SHANE & ANDREW

SIXTH: LUCY & EMILIA

SEVENTH: JAMES & SARAH

EIGHTH: ROSS & TARRYN

Result: This is a pre-determined NON-Elimination round, and they are still in the race. They must come first in the next leg or suffer a 30 minute time penalty.

The Amazing Race Australia next airs Jul 2 at 7.30PM on Seven.
