Previous Episode: The Block Season Five – The Final Room Reveal…and it isn’t even a room!
So, the contestants have finished their own houses…and now must start on another! It’s BOMBSHELL week on The Block!
The episode begins with contestants saying goodbye to their completely renovated Block address. The exit onto the street where Scott is waiting to deliver the bombshell news.
BOMBSHELL: Scott takes them to the old Mitre Ten ‘Block Shop’ which is actually a dilapidated house…which they have to renovate in ONE WEEK! The house has three bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, a dining room, a living area and the outdoor area. Each team will have to renovate two rooms (Three bedrooms, the bathroom, two courtyards in one, the front yard, kitchen and laundry in one and the living and dining in one make up eight rooms). The house will be judged and the winners will get $10,000 off their reserve place. $8,000 will be taken off the second placers reserve with $6,000 off of third getter and $4,000 off of fourth place getter.
They then take the usual ‘first week’ tour of the house to see what needs to be done. Who will get what room?
Dan & Dani: Courtyards and Bathroom
Sophie & Dale: Front Yard and Bedroom
Mike & Andrew: Living & Dining and Bedroom
Brad & Lara: Kitchen & Laundry and Bedroom
They have $100,000 in cash to use on the house. First up, the clean up! Sophie and Dale are loathing their front yard job but love the fact they get to renovate a bedroom. Brad is a bit confused with his part, but Keith is on hand to give him advice!
Dan & Dani don’t like their bathroom choice, and the bathroom is that they used before renovating their Block bathrooms! They also fight over the management of the courtyard renovations. It’s going to take these guys a while to get used to this twist I reckon. Lara is back off shopping, something she thought she had seen the last of. It seems they are still allowed access to the block- so they are able to sleep in their completely renovated homes!
Dani runs her tradie through her plans, and he’s not impressed with all the work that she is making them do. She does get Keith on board to help though. He does have a go at Dani for having a go at him though.
Scott goes to inspect the house the next day to see how primary work is going. The boys seem to be getting through their Living and dining room fast. It’s been a pretty busy week already! Dan & Dani have to rip up the floor to the bathroom to start again before going to Brad & Lara’s house for some jacket potatoes.
