Previous Episode: The Block Season Five – Contestants Struggle To Finish the Bombshell House
The contestants have had all week on this massive house, but it all must be finished tonight! Why? It’s judgement day!
Overnight, painting has been all but complete- and it has come up really well. Today, the contestants look like zombies. They seem happy with the progress thus far. Sophie & Dale’s quirky bedroom looks the best so far. And finally, Dale has been able to have a crack at his front yard, and he makes good progress.
Brad & Lara have had problems all week, and now their kitchen sink seems to be a problem now as it is the wrong shape. Brad wants to attempt cutting out the sink, which should be a professional job. Keith does find someone to do the job instead!
Meanwhile, the brothers have so much to do in such little time. They haven’t even painted that much nor do they have much furniture! So what the hell have they been doing when they shop for five hours straight? Buying Maccas?
On the flip side, Brad & Lara are almost finished with their laundry. They move on with the bedroom and they are almost ready to decorate after painting and carpeting it. Dan & Dani are getting their BBQ installed. And what are the boys doing? Shopping.
The next day is reveal day! The brothers are still running late! Christ. Soon though, all time is up. But, before anything- the contestants head into town where Shelley gives the contestants a makeover! While that occurs, the judging begins with the three judges and some special guests- all of last year’s contestants. Oh wow, this is awesome!
Room Reveal
This year, contestants are scored out of 30- 10 points per judge, plus the 2011 contestants.
Dan & Dani’s room
Neale Whitaker: Calls it the best bedroom on The Block. Loves the artwork in the courtyard.
Shaynna Blaze: Calls the bathroom gorgeous. She’s also happy with the storage.
John McGrath: Amazed by the change. Has been overjoyed by this week’s quality.
The Contestants: They all seem to love the bathroom. Katrina & Amie love their courtyards while Josh & Jenna love the courtyards.
Overall Score: 89
Place: SECOND ($8,000 deduction off of reserve)
Dale & Sophie’s room
Neale Whitaker: He is wowed.
Shaynna Blaze: Loves the turf in the front yard, calling it appealing. Shaynna is just blown away by the roof.
John McGrath: He just loves the bedroom, calling it a 9 at least.
The Contestants: Josh & Jenna love the outdoor area. Katrina & Amie agree. They call the bedroom awesome. Tania loves the lego mat. Waz likes a light!
Overall Score: 90
Place: FIRST ($10,000 deduction off of reserve)
Brad & Lara’s room
Neale Whitaker: Loves the difference.
Shaynna Blaze: Is wowed by the massive laundry size. She also loves the kitchen.
John McGrath: Calls the bedroom fun and practical. Loves the hanging clothes horse in the laundry. To the kitchen and he doesn’t want to try to look for flaws.
The Contestants: Jenna & Josh love the creative bedroom. Rod & Tania are impressed with the laundry and Polly & Waz love the space, as do Josh & Jenna. Katrina & Amie are most impressed with the kitchen. Waz calls the kitchen functional.
Overall Score: 77.5
Place: THIRD ($6,000 Deduction off reserve)
Mike & Andrew’s room
Neale Whitaker: Says there is too much office furniture in the bedroom. Isn’t a fan of the living room colour scheme. Can see that they’ve run out of time.
Shaynna Blaze: She isn’t big about the furniture in the bedroom.
John McGrath: Implies the bedroom is over dressed.
The Contestants: Polly & Waz don’t like the master bedroom and the sisters aren’t big on it. They don’t love the living room either.
Overall Score: 70
Place: FOURTH (Won a $4,000 deduction on reserve)
