Previous Episode: The Block Season Five – Unlocked Week 7
It’s never been done before, and for a while there, it looked like it was never going to GET done. Its rooftop reveal time!
Dan & Dani are closed to finishing after an all-nighter. In fact, it was an all-nighter for everyone. In the morning, with four hours to go, collectively, there’s still quite a bit to go. They are all having a whinge about how many times they have to go up the stairs. When Andrew & Mike finish, they claim to have bed space for up to 10 people. Outstanding! Unfortunately, they’ve got SO much to do in so little time. They have NONE of their appliances. Mike is the man to get things together!
Dani is just out of it as Dan tries to put everything together. I think she may be drunk. Meanwhile, Brad & Lara’s shelving is going in, which is a chore because of their small utility room. Dale & Sophie are trying to get their custom made desk into the room, however it doesn’t quite fit. With 43 minutes to go, this is a nightmare.
Dan faces a similar problem with their rooftop table. Dale fits his rooftop bar together, but finds out it kinda intrudes on a sitting space. They have to rearrange things. 40 minutes to go and Mike & Andrew’s small utility room is filled to the brim with tradies. They find it hard to get their priorities intact.
Soon, Scott walks in to call times up. For the boys, and for some of the other teams, there are definitely signs of lack-of-time. No one seems to be celebrating. Dan & Dani look the happiest- if you can call it that. Thankfully most people have bonus points.
Room Reveal
This year, contestants are scored out of 30- 10 points per judge.
Dan & Dani’s room
Neale Whitaker: Calls the study and colour scheme cool. Says it is a sanctuary. Says it can be a bit over styled. Says some of the rooftop is useless.
Shaynna Blaze: Thinks the study is a good use of space. Doesn’t like the lack of storage in the room. Wanted more with the rooftop.
John McGrath: Calls the study nice, because you can use it. Calls it busy, but consistent. He calls the rooftop terrace ‘good but busy’.

Dale & Sophie’s room (A note, they use the chair they made in the upholstery challenge in this room)
Neale Whitaker: Says the wallpaper in the room won’t be for everyone. He says this before they realise it is wallpaper (thinking it was proper timber). He says it is genius. Says the room is confused. Also likes the elements on the top.
Shaynna Blaze: Loves the wallpaper. Loves their style. Loves the rooftop bar. Love the use of colour. Is amazed at their rooftop.
John McGrath: Calls their study ‘fresh and different’. John says they’ve done too many things in the study. Calls the rooftop a clever use of space.

Brad & Lara’s room
Neale Whitaker: He, like the rest of the judges, love the bar fridges. He does say it needs more life. John loves the use of the rooftop.
Shaynna Blaze: Likes the functional stainless steel bench top. Agrees with Neale on the life-factor. Likes the storage on the rooftop. Says their styling is a bit off. Still, it puts a smile on her face.
John McGrath: Calls their bar a functional room. He, with the rest of the judges, LOVE the storage. He is disappointed with the prints. Says he prefers their rooftop more than one with a huge bar.

Mike & Andrew’s room
Neale Whitaker: Says it is very ‘boys’. Says the colour is wrong. Does like the space upstairs. Likes the glass splashback and the sink. Says the rooftop is just as cluttered.
Shaynna Blaze: Calls the room oppressive. Likes the space, but calls it awkward. Doesn’t call the space practical.
John McGrath: Notices the unfinished window. Says there are positives in their bar. Calls the rooftop cluttered and impractical.

Place: Fourth
Result: The winners of the $5,000 this week are Brad & Lara. Mike & Andrew are chumps.
