The Block Season Five – Scotty’s Game-show!

Previous Episode: The Block Season Five – The Great Cash Cough-Up

After Dale & Sophie took some money out of their competitor’s cold, broke hands, I think it’s time to give these guys a bit more rope! Thankfully, Scotty’s around to do so…

Contestants are smashing it out in their living room this week and Lara is trying to come to terms with her new found title of project manager. Just as they begin another day, contestants receive a text from Scotty. It’s challenge time!

Challenge Brief: It’s an oldie AND a goodie- Game Show! Hosting the game show is last year’s host, Ed Phillips. Also back is the sound effects machine! Today, they’re here to play for money. They will be given some challenges in which they can win some money.

Game 1, State Of Origin: Ed has five chairs from five different countries. The contestants have pictures of the chairs and of SEVEN different countries. They have to sort the matches out. Anyone who gets two right will get some money.

Result: Andrew & Mike win 1 ‘Scotty Dollar’ for getting two matches correct.

Contestants have another go at round 1 for more money.

Result: Dan & Dani get all five correct and receive 2 ‘Scotty Dollars’.

Game 2, Musical Chairs: More chairs are brought out. Music will be playing and while this occurs, the teams must arrange the chairs into chronological order. 2 Scotty Dollars are up for grabs.

Result: Brad & Lara win the round and grab 2 Scotty Dollars.

Game 3, Which Decade: They have to decide which decade the chairs come from. Scotty says the challenge is ‘chair-ifying’.

Result: Dan & Dani & Sophie & Dale both receive 2 Scotty Dollars for finishing drawn first.

The contestants have to enter through a magic door. It is a set of red doors. Where could they lead?

So, this is obviously edited to the point of hilarity. Once they walk through the doors, they are ‘teleported’ somewhere else. Lara even tries her very hardest to make this all look serious.

They end up in JB Hi Fi where they can buy a range of living room appliances, like televisions and mini-systems and Wii’s in exchange for Scotty Dollars.

I must say that it seems Andrew & Mike have 3 Scotty Dollars at this point. After that, they head back through the doors and into the Chef’s Hat in South Melbourne. They are all asked to get involved in a ‘crump-off’. It’s a bit of fun.

Game 4, Charades: Scotty and Ed will act out actions, representing an item. They must then race around the store to find what they are mimicking.

Result: Brad & Lara win 1 Scotty Dollar for finding the first item; a wok. Dan & Dani find the next item, a salad spinner. They win a Scotty Dollar. The final Scotty Dollar goes to Sophie & Dale for finding a melon baller.

Game 5, Lowest to Highest: Here, they have to arrange five items in order of lowest to highest price. The person who can get the correct order the fastest wins.

Result: Brad & Lara win and grab 2 Scotty Dollars.

Contestants are then asked to come up with the price of all five combined items. Dale & Sophie win and grab some more Scotty Dollars. It’s then through the magic doors to some weird places, before ending up at Great Dane chair store…dressed in each other’s clothes. What is with this episode?!

Here, they pick up some more furniture for their houses. It’s then back through the doors and into the next challenge. They head into a very odd looking furniture penthouse.

Game 6, The Guessing Price is Right: Fifteen items have been picked and placed around the rooms. The contestants have to guess their values and whoever comes closest wins more Scotty Dollars. Only three items will be looked at.

Result: Dale & Sophie & Brad & Lara tie for the first item, and split the dollars. For the second item, Dan & Dani win 2 Scotty Dollars. For the final item, the winners are Mike & Andrew, earning them 3 Scotty Dollars. They do another item, and the winners here are Dan & Dani, winning 4 Scotty Dollars.

The contestants have to give a figure for what they think all the items in the room would be priced at all together.

Result: Mike & Andrew guess the most correctly and win 5 Scotty Dollars.

It’s now time for a final shop. It’s a very nice furniture shop. Mike & Andrew scoop BIG here. Brad & Lara and Brad & Lara want to combine money to buy a few bits here and there.

They are then put in the door one more time, and are flown to the moon! The episode just ends! What. On. Earth?!

The Block next airs Jun 7 at 7PM on Nine.

This would have to have been the most stupid and pointless episode of The Block ever, and a complete waste of time to watch bearing no significance to the main point of the show. All the challenge episodes just pad out the show to make it last over 5 hours a week unnecessarily. Only really need to watch The Block Sun, Tue and Thur – and even then you can fast forward through alot of the eps.

And – any wonder one of them end up in hospital next episode – the way they work without sleep in getting rooms reay is ridiculous.

      Hi Unblocked.

Technically, you only have to watch Sunday & Friday- Sunday for RR and Friday for a recap of the week :) Though I would recommend watching the show the whole way through. It’s quite different to most reality shows around- this one has quite a bit of humour in it and is a nice balance between competition and light entertainment.

When it comes to Dale, his injuries do not relate to anything sleep-deprivation-related.
