Previous Episode: The Block Season Five – Kitchen Room and Room-saver Reveal
Outdoor week is about to begin, but to get through this final slug; these guys will need a bit of cash. Shelley, enter stage right!
As we enter the episode, we already see how busy this week will be with so many workers in such a confined space. After winning last week, Mike & Andrew want to spend their hard earned money on some complex plans, but will Keith approve it? He seems to, but wishes them luck on the mammoth job they’ve created for themselves.
Decking arrives and with so much stuff, they have for the first time ever nowhere to store it. Meanwhile, Brad & Lara find out they have no money and Lara breaks down. Luckily, it’s challenge time! They have to go to Birrarung Marr for today’s challenge.
Challenge Brief: They must build a fully functioning outdoor barbecue. They have all the items they need and the winners will get $5,000.
So they have to build the ENTIRE thing, even having to put the massive blocks on conveyor belts to move them to the site. The brothers and Dale seem to have the most experience. The first part is just laying the bricks. Dan and Brad are also doing well, but Brad can’t seem to read the instructions. They then move on to rendering the BBQ in the colour of their respective houses.
After finishing their barbecues, they have an extra challenge. Special guests will be coming along to judge their BBQ’s cooking ability. They have to create some burgers to satisfy their guests. Shelley reveals that $2,500 will go to the best BBQ and $2,500 will go to the best burger.
They begin on their MasterChef challenge. When their time is up, their burgers do look pretty tasty. The judges then come in to taste. They are the Melbourne Storm. Well, six of them anyway. So how do their burgers rate?

Dale & Sophie: It’s spot on- both the BBQ and the burger!
Mike & Andrew: Their render isn’t quite up to scratch. Their burgers seem to impress though.
Brad & Lara: No problems with their BBQ. Again, the burger is a hit with Lara’s secret ingredient (Vegeta).
Dan & Dani: Their BBQ looks hopeless and the players are full of burgers. They seem to like them though. Who will win?
Results: The best BBQ prize goes to…Dale & Sophie. The best burger prize goes to…Brad & Lara!
When the contestants return to the block, realisation hits Dan & Dani- they may not have enough money for a spa. We’ll see.
Dan & Dani allow the others to use their bobcat to remove debris from the yard, and Dan makes it clear that their charity is despite the vast amount of times other teams have not leant them help from plasterers etc. Dani is not impressed.
Keith thinks he’s been too nice. He can’t get his bobcat back in his yard because heaps of holes have been dug. So everyone has used it…but them! The team then decide to charge for the bobcat use and they seem to be happy to give some monetary relief to the couple. Behind their backs, the brothers are fuming.
