After last week, the contestants are SPENT! Time to boost up those bank accounts with another one of Shelley’s challenges.
The contestants begin on their living rooms, but they have little money, if any at all. Even last week’s winners Brad & Lara have spent all money on trades; meaning they’re going to have to get down and dirty themselves this week. Dan & Dani are already looking for wall heaters. They go to the same people Brad & Lara go to, and it leaves a sour taste.
Still, most of everyone’s time is going into their budget. But then, some man delivers flowers for everyone. I smell rosemary…and another challenge! They head to the Melbourne Flower Markets at 6am the next day to participate.
Challenge Brief: Behind Shelley is a tree. Hanging from the tree are hundreds of hundred dollar notes. Each team must create a floral arrangement. The team who does the best will have 30 seconds to scale the tree and collect as much money as they can. They have 5 minutes to collect as many flowers as they can.
They run for their flowers, and they all decide to go for something a little different to one another. They then have to head to Flowers Vasette to arrange their flowers. They pretend to have an idea of what they’re doing, but they’re hopeless haha. I hope they can put something together good. Apparently, this challenge could ‘send someone home’. Ohhkay.
Dani manages to slice her finger open while cutting some flowers. For everyone else, they just enjoy the challenge. The owner of the store comes in to help the contestants. She will also act as the mentor. She is impressed with most of them. Soon, their time is up.
Result: The winners are Sophie & Dale. They will be able to collect the money! They find out that everything they grab- they will grab double of it. If they collect the full $3,000- they’ll get $6,000!
Money Tree Result: Dale & Sophie collect $2,600 which means they get $5,200 in total. But there’s a twist. Shelley says that EVERYONE contributed to the doubling. The extra $2,600 comes out of the neighbour’s budget. They have 48 hours to decide who will give them the money.
The Block next airs Jun 5 at 7PM on Nine.
