Tonight Darren Percival, Karise Eden, Rahael Leahcar and Sarah De Bono will sing it out, performing an original song and a cover that will then leave the viewers with the final chance to vote before the winner is announced tomorrow night. Voting closes at midday, Monday 18/6/2012.
They came with many hopes but only one dream. The show opens with scenes of the final four. They all have the opportunity to become The Voice, but who will do it?
Their journey started from the auditions.. Then they went through the battles with emotions running high. There were shocks and tears, and above all, gut-wrenching choices.
Then Australia got to have their say as the show moved into live rounds and took votes. 24 artists started for the live shows, votes decided the outcome. Things got tougher as the coaches tried to find the one with The Voice. All four finalists and their coaches talk up the night, saying how excited they are to be there.
Singer against singer, coach against coach. All four coaches confident in their singers. Darren intros the night and the four coaches. Each four artists will perform an original song and a cover that will be available tonight on iTunes. Seal speaks about working with Karise, saying it has been a blessing. Australia’s new queen of soul he believes is – Karise.
Delta – Rachael was sick last week, but she has put her heart and soul into it and so ready for tonight.
Keith – about Darren – looking forward to singing his original songs. “May the best man win” (the only man!).
Joel about Sarah – now we see the haircut is “I heart You”. Sarah represents Team Joel to the fullest. Sarah is ready to go, and ready to hit the stage. Can feel the electricity. Hopes we are all at home having Voice parties!
Joel later will be hitting the stage with Lionel Ritchie in a world exclusive (and just 4 minutes ago, there was an ad on Seven during DWTS for “Tuskegee” by Mr Ritchie – clever advertising?). Joel says it is a personal dream of his – to perform with his father-in-law.
Up in the V room, is Rachael’s mother, brother and her Nona – Maria – who is very proud of Rachael. Faustina wishes her good luck, she dedicates her cover song to all her fans.
Sarah De Bono (Team Joel) is up first – her first song is If I Didn’t Love You by Tina Arena. She says it is a great grand finale song that represents her relationship with music. Sarah says Joel lets her have creative control. Joel says she is ready to win.
Standing Ovation.
Delta – says it was absolutely gorgeous, and that she loves Tina Arena, and thinks that the song Chains might have been better for Sarah.
Keith - Loved it and that she had a great range in her voice.
Seal – Says we have 4 great, real artists left. Says she is a true pro. Well done, fantastic.
Joel – Not just about the hard work in getting here, but killed it – the opening performance of the show is hardest, and that was a winning performance, Feels like we are winning. Feel like Charlie Sheen – Winning!
Sarah – Phone 1902 55 95 03, SMS Sarah to 199 55 999 or vote through Facebook or by downloading on iTunes.
Next is Karise Eden (Team Seal) who will perform her original title: I Was Your Girl – about her mother and what happened in her life. She says she feels for her mother. Seal asks about why she didn’t want to sing her own songs. She thought she wasn’t ready. Her trials and tribulations allows her to really sing the blues. Writing a song is like expressing feelings you can’t talk about.
As expected, another standing ovation!
Joel – Wants Karise to celebrate herself and says she belongs here and we will be seeing her alot in the future. The world needs her songs and voice.
Delta – Says she wanted to know who Karise was and felt that tonight. It is the beauty in song writing.
Keith – It’s the humanity of the soul and being roar and real. Thanks her for singing that song. songs start with people having something to say.
Seal – Fantastic performance. You have witnessed the difference between a singer, artist and voice. Karise says she is feeling very confident now people have heard “me for me”. Cheers all round.
Karise – 1902 55 95 01, SMS Karise to 199 55 999 or vote through Facebook or by downloading her songs from iTunes.
Now comes Delta’s “Angel” Rachael Leahcar. She says she would not have believed she would have ever made it to the final four of The Voice. She is performing the all-time classic Smile – written by Charlie Chaplin. Rachael says this song is definitely a reminder to her of the positive influence of her mum, who used to tell her just to smile if she was down. No matter what you are going through in life, there is always room for a smile.
Another angelic performance from Rachael. And yes, it’s a standing O!
Keith – the videos were so beautiful. Great to hear your voice tonight. The illness is giving her voice a little edge.
Seal – echos what Keith says – a great representation of a professional artist – with working through while she was sick. Thanks her for the amazing gift she has given us.
Joel – Tonight we are celebrating this whole thing – at the end of the day, the people will chose the winner, and we respect the people. You embody what a performer should be – Joel says he is a big fan of hers, and an inspiration.
Delta – is so proud, and does not know what other word to use. The performance was a new level again. Her smile is opening her voice more.
Rachael – 1902 55 95 05, or SMS Rachael to 199 55 999, vote on Facebook or by downloading her performances from iTunes.
In Woman’s Day tomorrow, Karise Eden tells all (was it just me or was this the longest ad break ever?)
From Team Keith, it is time for Darren Percival – literally the last man standing! He will perform his original song called Damage Down. We see him try to work out just how he wants the song to be performed. He wrote it when he turned 40, about how life changes at that point. Keith says he can feel his experience through his voice. Darren says the song is about his life, and there have been times where things have not been that good.
Standing O – what the Voice is all about.
Seal – I kept my eyes closed – when I hear your voice, it is like a familiar friend – this performance took me (Seal) back to the blind auditions. Seal says he want to buy his albums (as does Alicia B who paused Dancing with the Stars live blogging to hear him perform! – finds it very George Michael-esque with a bit of Lionel Richie thrown in as well). Thank you – it’s voices like yours that made me want to get into this industry.
Joel – shows the “I Love You” on his head. God bless Australia – where else in the world would a bug TV network in prime time let an artist come on and sing an original song. HUGE cheers and maybe “I Love You” is also for channel Nine? This is why we are all here. That song took me through my own stories. My wife and kids gave me another shot at my life – you are the real deal. I wanna buy your records Joel says.
Delta – Listening to every lyric. Couldn’t imagine the Grand Finale without you. Absolutely wonderful. Echos Joel’s remarks as well.
Keith – I’m really proud. Glad he played the piano – the instrument the song was written for. Love that Darren and Karise have both come out and shown their hearts tonight – all of us are buying your records, Darren!
Darren 1902 99 55 07, SMS Darren to 199 55 999, vote on Facebook, or download his performances from iTunes.
HALF WAY POINT – each of the four have performed once, now, after a short break, their second performances.
To the V-Room. Chats to Darren, wife Amanda, and Baby Willow Rose. He is so happy about his performance.
Lionel Ritchie and Joel Madden together perform “EASY”. Great performance – they should release this on iTunes as well. To vote for Lionel and Joel, SMS… just kidding! Crowd loving, cheers as Lionel and Joel hug. What a performance.
Biggest Standing O yet! Lionel says it is best family reunion you could have. Darren says Lionel should move to Australia. Joel promotes Lionel’s new album “Tuskegee”, out now. Lionel says he would move here tomorrow. Look for a song between Lionel and Joel very soon!
Lionel says the best part of the show is judges who understand performing. He goes on to say, if you are in it just for the money, forget it. But if in it for love, then you will go far. Secondly – be unique, do not try to be someone else. These finalists have their own personalities. Joel says they are moving here to Australia.
Second performances. Sarah De Bono with her original song Beautiful, she wrote when she was 16, and says it still has so much meaning in her life now. Says it was about coming out of a tough time and was bullied when young. She says you grow a thick skin, and look after yourself. The song made her feel better. Joel suggests some changes to the song, which she agrees with. Sarah says he is an amazing producer. Want people to know that you are always somebody if you believe in yourself.
Joel upstanding for the performance, Delta too. Bubbles everywhere!
Keith – Loves hearing originals, says it is the funnest moment of the show. Says he loves her voice and looks forward to hearing her sing.
Joel – Sarah is exactly what entertainment, music, rock and roll is all about. Says he was picked at school as well but we stay true to ourselves. Delta says it sounds like a smash song. At one point in life, no one believed in her, now she could be the next VOICE of Australia.
Sarah – Phone 1902 55 95 03, SMS Sarah to 199 55 999 or vote through Facebook or by downloading on iTunes.
Good ad for Big Brother – on Nine after the Olympics.
Karise is next. Seal – my whole strategy through the whole show comes to fruition. Now she drops the Team Seal and becomes a performer in her own right. He says she has done so much and they have come a long way together. She is singing Stay with Me Baby by Ruby Turner. It’s almost like she is going to take off singing this song, it is fricken powerful.
Can see the judges LOVE IT! Yes, she sure can sing!
Huge standing Ovation. Cheers last for a while. WOW!
Darren says it biggest Standing ovation he has ever heard.
Delta – Nothing to say, other than you are going to have a long, long, long career and I am honoured to be part of the beginning of your career.
Seal – What am I going to say! Anything I will say will be second to what you have just witnessed. He says we have just witnessed a historical moment in Australian TV. You are looking at the new Australian queen of soul. She is not only The Voice of the show, she is The Voice of a generation. The original song Karise sung earlier is already number 3 on iTunes. Her song from last week is still NUMBER ONE. So what am I going to say!
One of the tweets on-screen says Karise is Australia’s own Adele. I agree!
Karise – 1902 55 95 01, SMS Karise to 199 55 999 or vote through Facebook or by downloading her songs from iTunes.
This is The Voice…!
Rachael – found inspiration for her original track from her time on The Voice. Shooting Star – by me! says Rachael. She wrote it just after the battle rounds, when Delta called her a shooting star. Delta sees Rachael as a beautiful alignment of stars between a young woman with such grace and courage who has come with me on this journey. Delta make a few small changes to the song. Rachael says it is scary that all of Australia will be hearing her original song, but hope we all enjoy it.
Joel – Thought it was great. Just feels so good and we are celebrating something. Says she has come so far, and congratulates Delta for the job she has done.
Delta – You kill me! We have a special bond and you are like a little sister to me now. It was such a magical moment. The whole room was just electric. I love you dearly, and that was really magical.
Going into the ad break, Delta says to Rachael that she is not a shooting star anymore, she is a real star!
Rachael – 1902 55 95 05, or SMS Rachael to 199 55 999, vote on Facebook or by downloading her performances from iTunes.
To the V room – Sarah and Karise. Sarah was emotional with her performance. She says she was proud tonight. Karise – says she’ll something a bit sweet with Seal tomorrow night.
Final performance – Darren Percival. An absolute joy to watch, according to Darren the host – Darren Percival’s original song is NUMBER 6 now on iTunes. Darren says he is so overwhelmed to be there, Keith Urban agrees. Keith says he is Team Darren and grateful to be part of the team. Darren is ready to raise the roof with his performance of For Once in My Life by Stevie Wonder. If I was to write a song about how I feel about my wife, it would be For Once In My Life. Keith says it fills him with great Joy to see Darren in final four, and that he is The Voice!
And, another Standing Ovation – of course!
Seal – I feel like a broken record, cause I keep saying the same thing. That is a lot of song. Everytime you get on that stage, you give a clinic into what we have been trying to frill into our artists. Seal says his has it as well, Delta interrupts saying “so does mine”. Seal goes on to say he will be buying the records.
Keith – Big man was in fine form. That was a great song for you, and says he has to hand it to the bad for a terrific rendition. A great representation as to who you are and what you can do.
Darren 1902 99 55 07, SMS Darren to 199 55 999, vote on Facebook, or download his performances from iTunes.
