Tonight on the season return of Winners & Losers….
It’s all about facing the truth: Bec admitting that having Doug’s baby is messy, Jenny confronting her money problems, Frances questioning the real reason she’s lost her mojo, and Sophie coming clean about her new path.
Months have passed since Bec discovered she was pregnant to Doug and she’s convinced she can make it work and keep everyone happy. But when Bec is swept up in the excitement of the 20 week ultrasound – she learns the sex of the baby (a boy!) despite agreeing with Matt not to – Bec’s perfect pregnancy starts to unravel. She realises nobody is as happy as they’ve let her believe, most especially Sophie, who rocks Bec with some hard-to-hear home truths – that if Sophie were the one that was pregnant, she would have terminated the baby, not keep it.
Sophie’s secretive behaviour also contributes to her blowup with Bec. Among other things, she’s meeting with a hot guy (Mitchell) and lying about it to everyone. When Bec asks Sophie what is going on she tells her to mind her own business. Bec is upset that Sophie wouldn’t tell her. In the end she tells Doug that she thinks she has passed her re-entrance exam and that she’s returning to medicine. Doug is happy & proud of Sophie. Sophie tells him to hold the champaigne as she goes off to Bec’s to apologise for what she said that morning and to tell her the good news. Bec was elated that Sophie came around and that just maybe things might be okay after all.
Jenny’s enthusiasm for her year to come is marred by her realisation that she’s frittered away the millions given to her after the lottery win. Craving respect, Jenny blows the last of the money at a spirited auction, winning Bridget and Wes their dream house just down the street, and bankrupting herself in the process. Callum asks her how much money she will have left, Jenny answers with maybe $300 and then to top that off she is going to study teaching and will have a massive hecs debt. She swears Callum to secrecy but will she tell the girls her money troubles? Not yet it seems.
Bridget excited that Bec knows the sex of her baby already wonders if she can find out the sex of hers. Trish does the lipton tea test on Bridget and finds out that its a girl, if we were to trust the tea trick.
Worried that yet another male figure will disappear from her life Jasmine uses some bizarre tactics (telling Frances that Zach downloaded porn on his laptop leading Frances to believe that he may be not as interested in her as he first was) to try to bring Frances and Zach closer together. In fact, this only serves to confirm Frances’ worst fears – that Claire was right, and Zach must be bored with their sex life. Fortunately, Jonathan takes her to a sex shop so she can buy a nurses outfit and other things so that she can get her sexy (back) on. This didn’t go to plan as Zach came home unexpectedly causing Frances to fall over in her outfit in her haste to make sure Zach doesn’t see what she was doing and this lead to her bumping her head on the floor resulting in a bruise on the head. Frances tells Zach why she had the nurses outfit on and what Claire said at Bec’s wedding. Zach tells Frances that he loves every perfect bit of her and that she’s crazy to think otherwise.
At a Spanish restaurant that everyone is at for dinner Trish & Brian are telling the group about their holiday. Brian toasts Jenny for their trip of a lifetime but this just makes Jenny feel worse then she already does. As soon as she can she heads upstairs to be alone and watches everyone else having a good time (everyone talking & laughing at the table, Frances & Zach making out in another room). Callum finds her and asks her to please stop being so hard on herself at least for tonight. He then gives her a kiss. Jenny asks what was that for? Callum admits that he has been wanting to do that for months. Jenny says she has been wanting this as well. And they continue to kiss as Trish & Brian look on, happy that Jenny is finally with someone good. Trish wanted to stay and continue to watch but Brian gently leads her away.
As everyone goes off to their homes we see all the happy couples – Doug & Sophie in bed looking at the ultrasound pic, Matt & Bec in bed watching the ultrasound dvd and Frances & Zach making out in bed.
