4.30am Men’s 400m Individual medley final- Thomas Fraser-Holmes
Thomas Fraser-Holmes is in Lane 2 while Phelps with headphones on is in Lane 8, looking as cocky as usual. They start and Phelps was second after the first 100m of butterfly. I don’t think Australia has a chance here.
1- Lochte, Ryan (USA)
2 – Pereira, Thiagao (BRA)
3 – Hagino, Kosuke (JPN)
Phelps came 4th and and Fraser Holmes 7th.
4.40am Women’s 100m Butterfly Semi – Alicia Coutts

2 – Coutts, Alicia (AUS)
3 – Ottensen Grey, Jeanette (DEN)
Alicia has qualified second fastest for tomorrow’s final.
4.49am Men’s 400m freestyle final – Ryan Napoleon
No chance again! This is not looking like a good night/morning so far! Ryan has come last.
1 – Yang, Sun (CHN)
2 – Park, Taehwan (KOR)
3 – Vanderkay, Peter (USA)
5.09am Women’s 400m individual medley final – Stephanie Rice
Steph came out strong in Lane 1 and at the 100m has turned second. At 200m she is fourth. At 300m she is seventh. This is just depressing! Stephanie came 6th.
1 – Shwen, Ye (CHN)
2 – Beisel, Elizabeth (USA)
3 – Xuanxu, Li (CHN)
5.30am Men’s 100m Breaststroke Semi – Brenton Rickard and Christian Sprenger
Rickard qualified third in the first semi, Sprenger qualified 1st in his semi. In tomorrow’s final we have qualified 3rd (Rickard) and 4th (Sprenger)
5.40am Women’s 4x100m freestyle relay final – Australia
This has to give us a medal. The four girls are – Alicia Coutts, Cate Campbell, Brittany Elmslie and Melanie Schlanger. why do we change the team from the best qualifying one though?
Alicia starts out in lane 4 and at 50m we turn 5th. At 100m we are 3rd. Cate Campbell is racing and catching up and we turn second. At 200m we are a close second. Elmslie is in now and it’s us vs USA. We are now 1st – please be a gold medal for us! We are a stroke ahead as Melanie dives in. At 350m we are 1st – but the Netherlands and US are sooo sclose. OMG quick!!!!! YEAHHH!!!!! We got gold!!
Netherlands finish second and the US third.
