After the enormous success of Australia’s version of The Voice and The Block finishing, Nine tried to capatalise with tonight’s Season 2 premiere of The Voice USA, rather than the usual Big Bang repeats.
Tonight it was time for the coaches Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton (country singer), Cee Lo Green (singer-songwriter, rapper, record producer) and Adam Levine (Maroon 5) to battle it out with each other during the blind auditions.
Name – RaeLynn
Song – “Hell On Heels” – Miranda Lambert (Blake’s wife)
RaeLynn puts a different spin on the Lambert song and Adam turns around right away and Blake joins him shortly after. Adam and Blake fight it out, but with his connection to country and Miranda, of course she goes with Team Blake.
Name – Jesse Campbell
Song – “A Song For You”
Of course we have the background story to make us cry…wife left him, single dad, homeless. He sounds beautiful. Adam, Cee Lo and Christina turn around instantly, but Blake took some time and eventually turned around as well. Everyone wanted Jesse immediately. “The moment you opened up your mouth, I said, that’s my man, that’s my brother,” Cee Lo said. Now it’s a battle between the judges. He goes with Team Christina because she said she’ll fight for him and he is ready to fight!
Name – Daniel Rosa
Song – “Animal” Neon Trees
Oh dear – noone turns around and when they eventually do they say his problem was pitch. Poor love!
Name – Juliet Simms
Song – “Oh! Darling” by The Beatles
Adam is really impressed and hopes she goes with him as I did, but she chooses Cee Lo who I found a bit creepy when he kept going on about how much she turned him on. Adam and Christina also had a bicker about it, here’s what happened:
Apparently, so did Christina and Adam, who fought like crazy over this pick. The second Adam tried to pitch Juliet, Christina mocked him (“Hi, my name is Adam, and I’m gonna sell you a car right now”), rolled her eyes at him (“it’s okay, be the center of attention, it’s fine”) and downright insulted him (“You think you’re all badass and whatever, trying to be Justin Timberlake.”) Perhaps turned off by all the ugliness, Juliet as said, chose Cee Lo.

Song – “Because We Believe”
Chris Mann is doing it for his mom, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a year ago. The opera singer came out with a huge voice and no judges were turning around, but then Cee Lo wised up right before Christina did. He explains that he has had to hold his voice back and Christina sympathises and therefore he chooses Team Christina.
Name – Tony Lucca ( a former Mickey Mouse Club Mouseketeer with Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling and Christina)
Song – “Trouble” – Ray LaMontagne
He gets all four judges to turn around, sort of…Adam kinda helped Cee Lo push his button. Christina doesn’t recognize him and since Adam actually pushed two buttons Tony goes with Team Adam. Christina suddenly remembers (thanks producers, I bet) and comes backstage for some more camera time and talks with Tony and meets his family…a Mouseketeer reunion…and apparently Britney had a huge crush on him!
