Foxtel’s Arena channel will be the new Australian home of the number one US daytime drama The Young and the Restless.
The Young and the Restless keeps its premiere timeslot of weekdays at midday as it debuts August 20 on the Arena channel, which is available to all subscribers on Foxtel’s basic Get Started package.
Foxtel Executive Director of Television, Brian Walsh, said “The Young and the Restless has a very loyal fanbase so we have made the channel transition seamless by maintaining this key timeslot.
“The Young and the Restless is a strong daytime drama and brings a new dimension to Arena’s engaging blend of programming.”
The show has consistently been the number one rated US daytime drama since 1989. It premiered there in 1973 (and in Australia in 1975) and revolves around the powerful Abbott, Chancellor, Newman, Williams and Winters families in Genoa City.
The Young and the Restless is produced by Bell Dramatic Serial Company, in association with Sony Pictures Television. The Bell Dramatic Serial Company also produces The Bold and the Beautiful.
Foxtel secured the exclusive Australian television rights for The Young and the Restless from Sony Pictures Television in 2007 and since then the show has aired on the W channel, with its audience growing year on year.
The Young and the Restless will finish on W at episode 9806 on Friday August 17 and start on Arena on Monday August 20 at 9807.

If iQ, iQ2 or Mystar customers have already series linked the midday premieres episodes of The Young and the Restless on W, then the recording will continue in the planner on its new home on Arena.
