Everybody Dance Now Season One - Launch

Due to time constraints, Everybody Dance Now will not be blogged in its entirety. If this blog proves popular, and the show performs well, we may consider bringing it back for the pointier end of the competition.

Jason’s ready. Kelly’s ready. Are you?

The show begins with Jason and Kelly walking out and introducing their acts. Ten don’t show the names of their acts, so I’m not quite sure who they are, but I’m sure we’ll find out later. Kelly tells us they’re going to be competing for $250,000. Not surprising.

The show is edited in the same way YTT was. Each side has a dance captain. Team Kelly has Marco Pantic and for Team Jason, it’s Amy Campbell.

It’s time for the first dance duel.

Duel 1: Tannos + Choice (Team Jason) Vs. Swagamama (Team Kelly)

Tannos + Choice dance to Titanium, originally sung by Sia and David Guetta. Jason calls it an incredible way to start the show.

Swagamama dance to a techno version of What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction as well as other songs. It’s a bit of a mash up. I really enjoy this act. Very creative.

Result: The winner of the duel, heading closer to the $10,000 prize up for grabs in tonight’s episode, is…Tannos + Choice.

Duel 2: Prolifique (Team Jason) Vs. Boylesque (Team Kelly)

Not sure what song Prolifique dance to; some dance beat. Really catchy. Oh, it’s a Christmas Carol! All I Want For Christmas Is You, I believe. Some other tracks are thrown in there as well. They’re really good- they’re a bit Justice Crew. They’re not bad at all.

I’m not sure about the song Boylesque is dancing to. They’re a drag act – but nothing too ‘drag’- it’s very tame. But I like their dance routine- very energetic and wide.

Result: The winner of duel 2 is… Boylesque!

Duel 3: Nobel Lakaev (Team Kelly) Vs. Paradizo (Team Jason)

Nobel is giving us some variety right now. He’s a more gracious dancer. He’s very good as the first solo act of the night. Even Jason compliments him!

Paradizo is very colourful and talented; but they didn’t seem to capture me like Nobel. Who will win?

Result: The winner of duel 3 is…Nobel Lakaev!

Duel 4: Julz & Annalisa (Team Kelly) Vs. Dave Coombs (Team Jason)

Team Kelly’s Saea Banyana and Team Jason’s Reece & Kieran have not been chosen to dance tonight.

Again; different from all the hip hop groups flooding the arena tonight. They’re like a couple from Dancing With The Stars…but 100% better. Don’t know if they’ll be captivating enough though; if Jason picks the right act, he could win this one.

Dave is impressive! His MASSIVE hula hoop, named Mercedes, looks very heavy. How does he keep it up?

Result: The winner of duel 4 is…Dave Coombs.

Seems a bit odd that two acts each from each team got through; but we’ll have to watch more episodes to see if this ALWAYS happens.

After the break, Jason comes on stage to sing a compilation of his hit singles.

Dance Duel Decider 1: Dave Coombs (Team Jason) Vs. Boylesque (Team Kelly)

Dave is VERY talented! How does he do those things with the hula hoop?! Just…what the hell?! Boylesque was good- but Ten seriously showed us them dancing for 10 seconds?! This show is running out of time- but 10 seconds?!

Result: The first winner of the $10,000; and through to the EDN finals is…Boylesque.

Dance Duel Decider 2: Nobel Lakaev (Team Kelly) Vs. Tannos & Choice (Team Jason)

Result: The winner of the second decider is…Tannos & Choice!

Two acts will be brought back as wildcards in the EDN Quarter Finals.
