I Will Survive Episode Four - Farewell Cobar!

In Cobar, the three men up for elimination are Rohan, Frank and Davin – as they say in every elimination type show, who will go home tonight?

Jason takes the successful folk to the pub while the bottom three hang with Hugh in the park discussing if the right people are up for elimination. Frank believes that Brendan should be there (totally agree) while Davin thinks Matt was too choreographed. The boys head off on a tour with Colby, a born and bred bloke from Cobar. They check out the main drag (pun intended) and it’s a WHOLE block – they then end up at the Cobar Clay Target Club and will have to learn how to handle a gun.

Matt’s up first and is excited to be blokey and shoots 3/3 while Davin is scared that the ricochet off the gun will make him fall over. Hugh meets up with them all and tells them that tonight’s performance will be held in what used to be the world’s largest copper mine and smelter. The guys head off to rehearsal to practice the song for their performance, “Hot Stuff” by Donna Summer.

Asher Keddie is back to take the boys through an acting workshop and tells them the importance of truth and honesty in their acting. Stephan Elliott tells the contestants that they have 30seconds each to tell them something that is the truth, that they haven’t shared with anyone and will be something that exposes them.

Jamie has a meltdown before they even start because he’s not used to being in an ensemble and isn’t used to being around such strong personalities and is talking about leaving the competition and he even walks out at one stage. Maybe he should because these diva antics will get him sent home and it’s unfair on the others. Anyway, back to the task at hand and Matt is up first and tells how he started a fight while he was out with his brother and mates and he ran away and he hasn’t forgiven himself and breaksdown – Asher thinks it’s fantastic! Sicko- haha!

Adrian almost died as a baby and cries for his mum, Frank says he cried after he lost his virginity (Elliott cracks up) because he threw it away when he was waiting for marriage (aww, thats lovely) and Rohan wet his bed, the poor thing. Asher says our differences all make us special – hear, hear!

Stephan E and the bottom three head off to the local radio station to drum up business for tonight’s performance and Frank (a radio announcer himself) has to teach the community radio announcer a few things as he’s a shocker. The bottom boys go and practice vocals and Rohan is struggling and Frank is going really well. At choreography Davin is great, Frank is now not up to scratch and Rohan is apprhensive and I fear it’s his turn tonight. The guys get some fragile props and CAN NOT BREAK them and sure enough Michael breaks his. Bloody Hell – Jamie has walked out again and the others are losing it and are over it.

Down at the mine the boys are transforming into fabulous makeup and Matt thinks he’s soo pretty! Tim Chappell’s costumes are amazing and it’s a fluro extravaganza that is a mix between Diana Ross and Ronald McDonald. Davin looks great but Nathan makes one ugly girl! The vocals by the three up for elimination are fantastic but I have to say Rohan is probably the weakest of the them.

The judges head to the bus to deliberate. Asher and Jason loved Rohan, Stephan says he has seen better. Stephan loved Davin and loved his vocals but Jason thinks he’s one dimensional. All love Frank but worry that his singing is too high. Asher leaves and Stephan and Jason are left to decide the one who will leave.

Cue all the cliche’s of reality TV and Priscilla tonight stops for … Frank – What the?? Oh dear. I was sure it would be Rohan, but am so glad he is safe. Tom is very emotional and says Frank was the treasure of the group. Next week is Magda Szubanski’s turn to guest judge as they head to Broken Hill.

HEY Alicia. Great review. I know you are just reviewing what your saw on TV But reality TV is the most UNreal thing Ever. Just so you know….. and if you happen to to discuss it with anybody else….. I WENT TO THE FRIGGING TOILET…… LOL. I am the victim of some pretty poor editing. Not happy about it but moving on and trying to correct the damage done as best as I can. Cheers Muchly. Jamie J

Jamie – I know that reality TV is the exact opposite and there always has to be a scapegoat. Poor love – you ever want to do an interview PLEASE contact me at alicia@throng.com.au. Cheers and thank you for the great entertainment!

  • Team Davin all the way

I have watched every episode since this show started and I have my favourites. But it seems every episode Jason Donovan never says anything great or positive about Davin but the other judges always love him? A conspiracy? I think Davin is the most entertaining of the whole group. But I do love Jamie.

Let’s hope we get Jamie to tell us the goss, even when it’s finished – Definitely my favourite free to air show this year!
