MasterChef Australia: All Stars – Where Are They Now Cook-Off

Previous Episode: MasterChef Australia: All Stars – The First Elimination…and it’s a DOUBLE!

Tonight; the contestants are going back to the beginning- to cook their first ever dish in the MasterChef kitchen! Who can recall their efforts the best, and take out some more money for charity?

Challenge Brief: They will all have to cook the first dish they ever prepared in the MasterChef kitchen. There is $5,000 up for grabs for their charities and immunity from tomorrow’s elimination.

Conditions: 75 minutes and free range of the pantry.

Progress: Well; from first glimpses; Callum is doing a vegetable lasagne; Poh is doing some sort of noodle oriental dish and Kate is recreating that infamous coffee cake. Justine is doing a coq au vin. Jonathan is doing a dessert and it seems to involve some sort of ice cream. All will be revealed soon!

With an hour to go, Hayden is doing moules- frites reworked. It’s funny, because in 2009, I believe they had to share ovens and were limited in their range of utensils. Justine and Chris are still getting used to the bigger kitchen range.

Chris is doing a tagine. Julie is doing a very fancy take on a roast chicken. 45 minutes remain. Poh’s noodle batter is not at the right texture and she begins to see the same mistakes she made the first time return. She tries something different in hopes of reviving it. 30 minutes remain. Meanwhile, Jonathan’s ice-cream is not freezing in time; and there’s not much time left.

Kate is adding poached pear to her coffee cake. With ten minutes left; Poh is not content with the heat she’s had her wok on. But, unfortunately; time is soon up. Jonathan was unable to put his ice-cream on the plate.
