Sure – the low figures can be explained by airing against Big Brother and The X Factor – not to mention starting a day earlier than originally planned or plain old lack of interest in the show - but an encore of a show rating this low on the main channel in prime time is very risky.
Ten will encore both of this weeks’ episodes of I Will Survive on Saturday (August 25) from 6.30pm instead of a movie.
Ten will be hoping, that the lack of choices on TV on Saturday night will perhaps drive viewers to try I Will Survive and therefore return on Tuesday night to watch the show on its original air night and drive up ratings. Ratings will be low for the encores, but Ten really don’t have anything to lose this week ratings-wise.
Unlike Everybody Dance Now, I Will Survive will most likley continue regardless of ratings either on Ten as is, at a different time or on ELEVEN. The show already has much more of a niche following.
I Will Survive airs on Ten Tuesday and Wednesday 7.30pm.
Encore this Saturday (August 25) on Ten 6.30pm (and also on ELEVEN Saturday September 1 from 6.30pm).
Subject to change.
