Previous Episode: The X Factor Australia Season Four – The Third Auditions
The first week blew us away. What will the second week provide?
It’s time for the first contestant of the day, returnee Trent Bell.
Trent Bell (Third time lucky?)
Judges’ Verdict: The judges already love him before he finishes. Guy welcomes him back to The X Factor and tells him this could be his year. Natalie loves how he’s never given up. Ronan welcomes him back as well. Mel asks the audience if they liked him, and they give him a standing ovation.
Result: Four yesses- Trent’s adventure begins again!
Morgan Sheather (Moved to Sydney to live her dream)
Judges’ Verdict: Natalie tells her that her voice ‘hits people in their gut’. Ronan thanks her for coming, telling her this is what she must do. Mel says she’s set the standard high.
Result: Four yesses and Morgan is through.
Tabitha Omaji (Timomatic’s Sister)
Judges’ Verdict: Natalie loves her, telling her she has her own thing going on. Ronan loves her beautiful vocal and welcomes her to the competition. Guy wonders what her mother’s giving her kids! Tabitha kept Mel’s attention for the entire song.
Result: She’s through with four yesses.
Chris Cayzer (Former Filipino Teen Sensation)
Judges’ Verdict: Mel gives him a standing ovation. She says there’s something extra special about him she hasn’t seen for a long time. Ronan tells him there’s no one over 25 like him. Natalie is very happy he came back to Australia. Guy thinks he would need to grow a lot if he wants to be a super star.
Result: A no from Guy (have to agree a little) but the rest give him a yes. Chris is through.
Briden-Starr Aspinall (Hairspray musical actress who causes a fuss between Mel B and Natalie)
Judges’ Verdict: My verdict- she wasn’t the best. Natalie loves that there’s a long way to go with her but she already has a great look and sound. She likes the exciting challenge. Guy calls it cool and different but her performance was better than her vocals. Her vocals were strong enough for the competition. Mel tells her it rubbed her up the wrong way, calling it cheesy and says she wasn’t The X Factor. Natalie disagrees, as does Ronan who calls her up on her comments. Natalie tells Mel the audience disagrees.
Result: A yes from Natalie, a yes from Guy, a no from Mel and a yes from Ronan. She’s going through.
The decision doesn’t leave Mel with the best face. She is clearly VERY seedy about this. Natalie and Ronan make comments about hoping she doesn’t get Mel as a mentor and Mel clarifies her comments further- saying she does think something is there. Natalie calls her jealous and Mel tells her she isn’t and tells her not to say that. Mel says she’s allowed an opinion.
Carmelo Munzone (Spotty Pants Man)
Judges’ Verdict: The judges are speechless. Natalie calls his voice ‘sick’. They wonder how he can sing well and laugh at the same time. Ronan loves his voice, calling his performance effortless. Guy calls his voice crazy. Mel says he made her smile.
Result: Four hilarious yesses from the judges and Carmelo ends a positive day on the set of The X Factor.
