Big Brother Australia Season Nine – Housemates Get Hold of a Phone

Previous Episode: Big Brother Australia Season Nine – The Factory!

They’ve had no contact with the outside world for seven weeks- so what will happen when they get hold of a mobile phone?

DAY 45, 8.18AM: Delilah is up in the main house. Layla and Sam have awoken in the captain’s quarters. I love Delilah’s reaction to Big Brother’s booming voice. And then we move back into the dynamics of the relationships in the house. Sigh.

Later, Angie and Zoe discuss Layla’s on-the-go dating style. Housemates are called to get ready for work in this week’s factory task. Sam begins his day at work. He must peel potatoes today.

10.58AM: As Sam peels potatoes, the housemates continue to party in the back yard. Ava and Josh continue to smooch. It almost looks scripted- NO ONE kisses that much! They must then enter the factory to decoy their amusement.

Later, Benjamin and Bradley talk about Ava’s confusing answers last night when she was questioned about her music career. Meanwhile, Michael thinks he is a bit of a jerk for being negative about Ava.

4.07PM: Sam and Angie discuss Sam. They think he’s lovely. Benjamin is called to the diary room where a phone is waiting for him. He is allowed to call his partner Ben if he completes the challenge. Big Brother will text him simple instructions on the phone. All he has to do is follow through with the demands.

The first text message asks him to put on Ava’s best dress and jump in the pool. Ava is shocked to say the least.

9.02PM: Ava and Josh are still at it. Zoe doesn’t think Josh is fun anymore. Stacey, Layla and Angie agree. I also agree- evict one or both of them!

Benjamin meanwhile is asked by Big Brother to challenge Bradley to an arm wrestle and lose. He succeeds and is allowed a message from home. He is given a DVD player…and some tissues! Safe to say he needs them. He is then allowed to show the message to the rest of the housemates. At first they suspect him of being the one to burn Layla’s rollers (really? Michael hasn’t owned up yet?).

10.37PM: Stacey, Bradley and Benjamin discuss how little they know of Ava. Stacey claims Ava thinks her jokes are too rude. At the same time, Ava feels she isn’t a prude. Afterwards, the girls begin to suspect Sam of melting Layla’s rollers. He says he didn’t do it but he doesn’t care. This annoys Layla.

Michael comes to the diary room requesting rollers for Layla. Big Brother tells Michael he will hold him to a secret mission later. Later, Big Brother reprimands Sam for using excessive foul language. He has to peel and dice onions.

11.47PM: Big Brother is not happy with Sam’s chopping skills and asks Sam to start again with the dicing. He is soon allowed to finish up. And on Delilah’s orders, we begin Confidential (not all markets, apparently).

That Gangman ad has SUSS written all over it! It was clearly done recently yet I thought they are supposed to have no access to the outside world? Brad is tanned and his hair is cut the way it is now. Apparently it was filmed in the CQ last week yet the public were not told about it! We want answers! If it was filmed in the CQ why did Ben say that he has never been in there when Stacey and him lost the challenge to get CQ access?

not that i saw it in my location but according to the ep on twitter Gangnam Style promo filmed last Fri in Capts Qrters. 1 HM at a time – green screen shoot. No contact with the outside world

Though the ad clearly shows Bradley utter the words ‘Oppan Gangman Style’, which means someone must have given him information (albeit prob not much) about the song, which was released way after the housemates entered. I’m not a huge fan of housemates recording ads inside the compound…but boy it looks good!

I was wondering about this ad!! I’m like but hang on the song wasn’t known when BB first started.
Ben was prob told to say that if they recorded it in CQ cos I don’t think the general public were supposed to know that they recorded that in the CQ (if they did that is).
They would have been told about the dance routine as well… wld they have gotten some dance teacher on the tv or something.
It did look good, I agree!

I just think it’s really shifty and wrong that the producers don’t show us the preparation for this Gangman ad. It’s bad enough all the complaints this show is getting. Unfortunately this is just another one to ad to the long list! I mean they could have made a good 90 minute episode out of this ad – instead they show us a 20 second clip with no information on when/how it was done IF it was done on Friday which doesn’t make much sense considering Bradley’s makeover was done in the evening. If anything the ad would have been filmed on Saturday. That makes more sense. Just seems very secretive this year and nothing adds up!

To many ppl complain over little crap I liked the ad and I’m not going to be disappointed over little things like this

It’s not the ad that I didn’t like. It’s the fact that so much is hidden from public knowledge this year. If you were an avid Big Brother watcher from 01-08 you would know what I mean when you compare those series to this series. Hence why so many people on the facebook page complain at how scripted this year is. To show this ad without any prior knowledge of how it was done goes behind the very essence of what Big Brother is about!

I watched every season from 01 till now but I understand where your coming from. It’s not the best that it could be but hopefully if BB gets renewed for next year ch9 will learn from its mistakes and might bring back live feed and FNL etc. But I think it’s all to do with the budget this year and to see if Australia would still want to watch a show like this 4 years on.

        • http://www.facebook.com/mikiglat Miki Glat

Well, it’s hard to say – the ratings don’t necessarily say the people do or don’t want to watch a show like this – they are just mediocre – not great, not bad and I couldn’t care less if FNL comes back or not, I thought that was so tacky! But yes, they need to get their act together if they do bring it back next year!
