Big Brother Australia Season Nine – The Confrontation! Estelle Vs. Benjamin!

Previous Episode: Big Brother Australia Season Nine – Ava Creates Some Dramas

Ever since Ava has entered the house, Estelle has been blamed, mainly by Benjamin, for keeping her from the other housemates and all to herself. Tonight, bitchy Benjamin finally comes face-to-face with Estelle over these issues!

DAY 32, 10.02AM: Michael and Zoe are in HMAS BB talking about the groups in the Big Brother house. Inside the house, Benjamin and Angie are referring to Estelle as all these different kind of Barbies. Estelle and Ava are in the kitchen doing some dancing. How is that harmful? Back in HMAS BB, Michael calls George ‘boring’.

Angie and Benjamin discuss talking to Estelle about the ‘Ava situation’.

12.13PM: Michael and Zoe return from the captain’s quarters to find that Estelle and Layla are still very close! Zoe actually finds it fantastic that Estelle has found a nice friend to connect with. Josh thinks it is detrimental to Ava.

In the bathroom, Angie is talking about tattoos.

12.51PM: The housemates have found out they have passed this week’s task. The housemates are discussing shopping and during it, Benjamin tells Estelle to be quiet. Her and Ava move into the lounge room where Benjamin comes after her. Estelle lays her issues on the table and Benjamin understands, but warns Estelle not to isolate Ava. The two discuss the issue of Estelle’s friendship with Ava. Ava sticks up for Estelle. In this case, I actually think Estelle performed better in that argument than Benjamin because she was able to rebut everything Benjamin threw in her direction whereas it was clear to see what Benjamin was saying wasn’t the complete truth and Estelle knew that too!

After the confrontation, the housemates do the shopping but forget to include Ava’s tofu. Bradley makes some stupid, but hilarious call, but the majority of the housemates try to help Ava get through this. Angie has a go at Estelle after she claims Estelle began speaking while she was (though it was Estelle who really began it) but afterwards, Big Brother offers housemates the opportunity to swap some luxury shopping items for tofu. Some housemates, Stacey and Layla, decide to snack on some Tim Tams before they are given up.

Stacey wonders why she can’t eat like ‘a normal person’. Wow.

8.45PM: Housemates come to the diary room to make a trade of some foodstuffs for tofu. Stacey and Layla are not happy. Ava feels a little bad finding out the sheer amount of food that must be given away for her tofu. She confides in Josh.

Meanwhile, the Chat Room opens again. Angie and Estelle are granted entry. They begin to discuss Estelle’s relationship with Ava. Angie believes there should be NO divisions. They end their visit on a positive note.

Why is Channel 9 allowing the bullying to continue? It will only get worse. Congrats to Gen Y for showing the nation just what kind of people you really are

      I know, it’s disgusting!

Ahh, no. Congrats to Ben and Angie for showing what kind of people they are. Benjamin and Angie’s actions do not necessarily reflect the attitudes of ALL Gen Y’ers

      • Loz

        Exactly!

    • Loz

Not all of Gen Y do that. I don’t. And they are allowing it because Estelle so far as far as we know has not complained to big brother about it. If she did, this might not continue, but she is sticking up for herself so who knows what will happen.

Exactly! And really, I wouldn’t call it bullying; or at least not serious bullying. They’re not attacking her personality, they’re just questioning it and its effect on Ava (not to mention the amount of time they spend talking on Estelle is probably highly exaggerated by the daily show). But it’s still mean and uncalled for.

I agree, it has to stop

CAN’T STAND ESTELLE I JUST THINK SHE IS BEING SO FAKE WITH AVA. SHE JUST WANTS A FRIEND

    • http://www.facebook.com/mikiglat Miki Glat

Is there anything wrong if she just wants a friend? How is she being fake?

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100003368455102 Courtney Lewdon

There are times when Estelle looks like she’s forcing a friendship out of Ava, but Ava is happy to comply and they are both now having a good time because of it. There’s no reason for Estelle to fake a friendship with someone and there’s heaps of reasons why Estelle would want to pursue a friendship with a newbie (considering the original batch have abandoned her).

angie and ben its time for you to leave that was just unexplanable

I feel there is a whole lot of bullying going on. It is no different all the verbal abuse they go on about Estelle than if they were actually physically abusing her. There should be ramifications especially for Ben the bullying ringleader. I reckon they should actually play all the stuff they have said about Estelle to the whole house (including Estelle) and let them see what Australia is seeing. It may actually be a bit of an eye opener to some of them. It was disgusting when Estelle was given her elephant hat and had a little joke in the diary room and the house mates watching from the lounge say “we’re not laughing”. I feel sorry for any kids or adults that are being victimised in a similar way at school or work watching this and seeing there is no accountability for any of this abuse they are continually throwing Estelle’s way. To think they had the gall to say she needs to let Ava go so she doesn’t hinder her chances in the game! Are others seeing this? What the hell? I have never seen this sort of hatred in any other Big Brother and I really wish something would be done. I applaud Estelle for not being a part of any of the bitching, I have not heard her say a bad/negative thing about any of the house mates.

Its appalling how the majority of the housemates are treating Estelle. It’s bullying. I think it’s great that she can be the bigger person and not start talking behind anyone’s back, even though they are doing it to her. For the past 2 or so weeks not one episode has gone by without Ben, Angie, Stacey or Layla saying something negative about Estelle. In particular, they are constantly talking about how Estelle is always ‘flirting’ with the male housemates. Has it not crossed their minds that she is just trying to get along with them, because all of the girl housemates (apart from Ava) have been bitching about her non-stop? I was so happy when Ava came into the house and immediately became friends with her. But, of course the other housemates straight away saw that Estelle was actually happy and having fun, and they felt the need to try to take that away. Something needs to be done. Good on Estelle for handling this in the most mature way possible.

  • Jane

I am glad viewers can recognise the bullying that is directed toward Estelle, ie using the power of the ‘so called’ in group to exclude an individual. Estelle has conducted herself amazingly well. If as it is accurate what the bitchy .housemates (namely Ben and Stacey) say that she has several personalities, I would prefer a person with seven interesting and nice personalities than a person with only one nasty, manipulative personality. Ben and Stacy are the puppet masters

  • Jane

Zoe knows the rules of bullying. The pack, controlled by its leader/s fears the retribution of also being isolated and ostracised by the pack. Zoe has come to her senses and realised she has been manipulated but knows how the pack will turn on her. Really, most of them are behaving like immature nasty girls. Stacey is very witty but has a mouth like a razor. Ben is catty and self-righteous. Note the cowardice of the HMs who said Estelle should be confronted for monopolising Ava and not vice-versa. They were to scared to shirt-front Ava for the same behaviour. It looked like mutual palling up to me. But “Oh no! Estelle has a toy. She can’t have that!” The other HMs need to wake up like Zoe has before the black widow spiders have done too much damage.
If I was teaching adolecsents, I would want them to watch the last few episodes to show them how insidious bullying can be.
