I Will Survive Episode 6 - The guys Hit The Palace in Broken Hill

Tonight we have Jamie, Adrian and Mike up for elimination – who will go? Let the dedicated Jamie stay who should have been safe for his commitment. Mind you I didn’t think Adrian was that bad either.

The guys start off in rehearsals for the big performance at The Palace in Broken Hill and will be singing “I Love the Nightlife” by Alicia Bridges I Love the Nightlife - Say It Sister . Kelley Abbey takes them through their paces and Mike is over thinking it all, Adrian get’s frustrated too easily and Jamie just needs to focus and Abbey loves his uniqueness.

The boys that are through go on a tour of Broken Hill with Magda who likes to call it “Broken Heel”. Tom’s loving it (as I do him) and they arrive at Mr Owl Man’s place who has a smelly old owl memorabilia museum of such. Poor Davin is having a conniption. Back on the bus Brendan (born native to Broken Hill, who now lives in WA) is heading for a surprise family reunion at Aunty Marie’s with Magda and the whole gang. His whole family is there including his wife and kids.

After coffee and cake the contestants all head to the iconic Broken Hill Central Power Station (now a film studio) where they will participate in a workshop with Jason and Courtney Act. Courtney (from Australian Idol) has flown in from Vegas to teach them “how to be a woman” – I must say that he is someone for the whole family, a hot woman and a hot guy! The boys put their heels on and  unbeknown to them they will be going out tonight to The West Darling Pub. They are taught by Courtney to think about their character and GOD I WANT “her” legs! Dressed in lovely frocks some look like Chinese swimmers while others look fab. The guys have to do their makeup and realise beauty is pain.

Off to the pub they go – in shock, to hang with the locals. As Rohan says .. will they survive? Let’s hope there are no “Sheila’s” in the pub (remember the movie) otherwise the tampons and lighters might be set loose. Ready to roll with punches (literally)  Davin looks great while some look like a dog’s breakfast (Yes Nathan that’s you – AGAIN, ugly stepsister or what?). The whole pub stops as they enter and the some  boys join in with the footy and try to blend and one even gets felt up by a local lass. The boys perform “I love the nightlife” and the locals have been great – good on them.

After some sleep the guys wake up and Jamie along with Mike think Adrian’s time is up. Off to dress rehearsal and Mike has shaved after the inspiration of Ms Act and won’t need a body suit now. Adrian’s tuning is out and Jamie is bitching that if his voice wears out due to all the singing in rehearsal it won’t be right – fair enough. Jamie sounds AMAZING and admits to getting grumpy but just loves performing. Brendan’s kids are with him and are so supportive – isn’t it great to teach kid’s at such a young age complete acceptance :)

The crowd are pumped and it’s time for the performance – Mike sounds fantastic, Adrian is great and Jamie has the real Priscilla feel with all the inflections and charisma. This will be tough for the judges who are up and dancing. Now Jason, Magda and Stephan head to Priscilla to see who will be going home tonight.

They are stumped and is a nightmare as all were fantastic. Magda thought Mike could bring more and Stephan said he needed to pull his finger out half way through and he did. Adrian they REALLY love, especially his intensity while Jamie’s choreography was great and Stephan thinks he was spot on and loves he’s so different and he is an artist. They are scared about Jamie’s lack of focus but think that he has the Priscilla factor – looks like bye-bye Mike!

Stephan is in tears as the photo of the eliminated contestant is put in the envelope – oh my, now I am sad. Hugh enters to give the announcement and Jason says Adrian nailed it but hates his swagger, Stephan loved Jamie’s whole routine, but is he a team player? Mike didn’t pop and went under the radar but popped when Stephan gave him a death stare. Hugh announces that the person leaving the competition is … Jamie. WHAT THE F! Why not Mike – stupid head judges again. Maybe this show doesn’t rate because the good ones get set free. Jamie thinks they have made a great mistake and I agree and Adrian says lovely things about the talented Jamie. Only nine remain when Toni Collette joins the gang next week in Port Augusta.

Jamie will continue with his solo career – SO WATCH THIS SPACE FOR MORE.
