I Will Survive - Kelly Rowland meets Hermannsburg!

The boys from I Will Survive head off into the Aussie outback again after the elimination of Adrian last week. They cross the border from South Australia into the Northern Territory, heading to Hermannsburg (600km north- west of Coober Pedy) where there is a very large Aboriginal community. Nathan reveals that he in fact is part Aboriginal, on his mum’s side and he is very proud of the fact and loves seeing Australia and his heritage. The boys as usual hit the locals with a flash mob with tonight’s performance to “All Fired Up” by Pat Benetar.

The kids are loving it, as the whole community is. Can you imagine? They would never of seen anything close to this and they are embracing it – I love it! Stephen is overwhelmed and Matt plays some AFL with the kids and it’s heartwarming. This week the boys meet up with special guest judge Kelly Rowland and I think Tom was going to collapse, he’s flabbergasted and overwhelmed. This week theguys will be singing duets with members of “The Desert Diva’s” program. Some of the girls have never performed for an audience that will proove a challenge to their partners as they have to show off their relationship to the judges as well as their vocals.

The performances start with the wonderful backdrop of the MacDonnell Ranges -

Mike and Genise – “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” by Starship. It starts off shaky but Mike sounds great by the end.
Kelly – Things when she first met him he was so genuine and that shined through during the performance.
Stephan – It was specatularly cheesy and I loved it! Really well done.

Nathan and Kirra – “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. I think Nathan is getting stronger each and every week.
Kelly – Loved his tone and listening to his soul.

Matt and Jessica – “Up Where We Belong” by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes. Matt sounds gorgeous (OK – looks it too!)
Kelly – I felt you were nervous and not here.
Jason – I’m sorry to say I don’t think it was your strongest performance, it was wooden and I didn’t feel that connection between you and Jessica – whatever Donovan!

Stephen and Rachael – “Time Of My Life” by Jennifer Warnes and Bill Medley. Yeah it’s fine I guess but I think he’s off key – my least favourite so far. Poor Stephen.
Kelly – You are so handsome and did a lovely job. I just wanted you to get into it more.
Stephan – Well done, very enjoyable! (What the hell?)

Rohan and Katherine – “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” by Elton John and Kiki Dee. Oooh Oooh – LOVE IT! Vocals are great !
Stephan – Offers Katherine a job. ThinksRohan was a bit exposed.
Jason – Has to see the side that can be a triple threat yet (Fool)

Tom and Rita – “River Deep, Mountain High” by Ike and Tina Turner. Loved Tom’s vocals and the whole performance – the two with the best chemistry.
Jason – I didn’t feel it.
Kelly – I really enjoyed it and was really fun to watch.

Brendan- “You’re The One That I Want” Olivia Newton John and John Travolta. Oh No – this is a train wreck – where is the emergency brake.
Kelly – It was so much fun, a bit karaoke at times. ( A BIT! )

Okay now for deciding the bottom three. They are Matt, Tom and Rohan – WHAT THE HELL!

Obviously the heat is getting to the judges (or jealousy) because this is BS! I would have said Brendan, Stephen and Mike! Tom and Rohan should have been top 3! Maybe they have had too many baby bottles of booze. The only thing worse than the ratings is the judges decisions. Jason says Matt is wooden – Thanks for that Scott Robinson!

The guys final performance of the night will see them perform Cyndi Laupers “True Colours”. The guys look so beautiful, especially Tom as usual as the performance begins. Rohan starts and is wonderful, Matt is a bit shaky and you can his nerves and then Tom sings. Jeepers that blew the other two out of the water, he looks and sounds like an angel. Ooh hang on Matt and Rohan are fighting backwith some pretty amazing vocals. I think Tom stole it though.

The judges think it was beautiful, extraordinary and moving but they head to the bus to deliberate.

Rohan – Kelly thinks it’s effortlesss for him and he owned the moment, Stephan thinks he flew.
Matt – Stephan thinks he stepped up tonight and was stunned and this performance changed Kelly’s mind about him.
Tom – Kelly thinks Tom is a star and he’ like a sponge wanting to do better. Jason didn’t notice Tom as much tonight and didn’t focus on him.

The person going home is Matt! All the boys are in tears as the hotty AFL player heads home. I truly hope he has a great career to follow, I can see him as Gaston in “Beauty and The Beast”. Bye Matt!

For any regulars who read this – I apologise for the delay and I missed interviewing Matt. There still may be hope, but next week all will be back to normal with the recap and interview with eliminated contestant. Cheers, Alicia B.
