The top 24 have been picked, as have the two SuperGroups- but tonight, home visits begins, and so does the quest to the top 12! One Direction, Kesha, Usher and Alicia Keys will be helping to whittle the bunch down.
Here’s a quick reminder on who made the top 24 for 2012.
UNDER 25 GIRLS
What About Tonight
UNDER 25 BOYS
To begin with, no contestant knows who will be mentoring them as they jet off to their respective ‘houses’. Speaking of, they have no idea where they are going!
At the airport, they find out where they are going.
Over 25’s: New York
Under 25 Girls: New York
Under 25 Boys: New York
It’s then time to find out who will be mentoring them! The judges also have no idea who will they will be mentoring.
Over 25’s: Guy Sebastian (Great for the Over 25’s)
Under 25 Girls: Natalie Bassingthwaighte (Great fit)
Under 25 Boys: Mel B (Great turn out for Mel- she should go further this year!)
Groups: Ronan Keating (What better person! It’s his second year in a row as a group mentor)
To begin with, each person/group will have a private mentoring session with their mentor ahead of tomorrow’s first solo performance in front of the mentor and the special guest.
Adil lacks confidence and Carmello lacks timing. Jason’s song choice doesn’t impress Mel. His second choice is a better fit. Matt Gresham impresses Mel, but he closes his eyes a lot. Matt Cenere and Mel don’t agree on perfect song choice. Josh forgets his words AGAIN.
Now, to Guy’s over 25’s. Nathaniel doesn’t impress Guy. Justin however, does. Danielle doesn’t add enough emotion into her songs. Chris hasn’t impressed Guy just yet, and he doesn’t seem to do much today either. Rob shows signs of not warming up and feels unprepared. Samantha has the same problem as Matt Gresham- eyes!
Over to Natalie’s girls. Bella captivates Natalie, but her fear is too noticeable. Vendulka doesn’t do as well as she has in the past (I still thought it was good). Natalie warns Morgan not to push her voice too far. Bella Hunter is singing Alicia Keys, the highlight of which hints at who Natalie Bassingthwaighte will be mentoring with. There’s room for improvement and Natalie says she probably shouldn’t sing Alicia Keys. Angel impresses- although her stage presence should be better. Shiane is last. She is so nervous, and she breaks down. It showed through a little bit in her song. We find out she used to suffer, and still does to a lesser extent, from a disability.
Over to London where Ronan is mentoring his groups. Fourtunate wows Ronan. What About Tonight need more conviction in their faces. Good Question stuff up a little, but it’s a big deal to Ronan. D&D stuff RIGHT up. The formed boy band still needs to find its step. The formed girl band did OK, but Briden is kind of snubbed.
The next day, it’s time to meet who will be helping the judges pick the top 12! Ronan introduces his helping act, One Direction. We then begin the group’s performances.
Ronan’s Verdict: He’s impressed.
One Direction’s Verdict: They love how they were allowed to hear each of the members sing. They like Trent.
Ronan’s Verdict: Mixed emotions as they don’t have chemistry.
One Direction’s Verdict: They liked Briden because she winked. Agrees with Ronan.
We’ll hear the others tomorrow night.
