Previous Episode: The X Factor Australia Season Four – Top 11 Results- Who Will Be Sent Packing?

The contestants have made it into the top ten; but can they sing songs that have done the exact same thing?

We get some thoughts from the judges before we start the show.

Justin Standley

Singing: Some Nights by fun. Some Nights - Some Nights

Judges’ Comments: Mel felt the energy and calls it his best performance. Ronan loved the enthusiasm. Natalie says he looked confident.

The Collective

Singing: You Got It by New Kids On The Block & Billie Jean by Michael Jackson. You Got It (The Right Stuff) - Crave, Vol. 6 (You Got It) Billie Jean - Thriller (25th Anniversary) [Deluxe Edition] (Billie Jean)

Judges’ Comments: There’s a lot going on in Natalie’s head. She calls them stars and tells them ‘it worked’. Guy likes Zach’s commitment to pelvic thrusts. He loved the performance. Mel didn’t like the song choice but calls their vocals and performance slick.

Angie Tupai

Singing: Next To Me by Emeli Sande. Next to Me - Our Version of Events

Judges’ Comments: Guy thinks she is too similar to Emeli but loved her performance. Mel thinks she got into the song but notices she takes her head away from the mic before completing her singing. She also thought the chorus was screechy. Ronan also warns her to not go off in tangents.

Carmelo Munzone

Singing: Whataya Want From Me by Adam Lambert Whataya Want from Me - For Your Entertainment (Deluxe Version)

Judges’ Comments: Ronan sees he’s given it his all but he isn’t stepping up to the plate. Natalie doesn’t think it was the best vocal. Guy thinks he needs a bit more time to learn how to drive his voice. Mel admits it wasn’t quite what they rehearsed.

Samantha Jade

Singing: Everytime by Britney Spears Everytime - Greatest Hits: My Prerogative

Judges’ Comments: Mel thinks she looks gorgeous and thinks she can sing better than Britney Spears. She calls her a great singer. Ronan calls her incredible but thinks she over sung the song. Natalie agrees with Ronan and wants a simpler performance.

Bella Ferraro

Singing: Big Yellow Taxi by Joni Mitchell Big Yellow Taxi - Ladies of the Canyon

Judges’ Comments: Guy thinks there were brilliant ingredients in the performance but she looked like she was concentrating too much. Mel likes the song and vocally she sounded lovely but felt uncomfortable. Ronan calls it a beautiful vocal performance. He doesn’t think she needs dancers or to dance.

Jason Owen

Singing: I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing by Aerosmith I Don't Want to Miss a Thing - Armageddon - The Album

Judges’ Comments: Ronan was surprised when Mel picked him for her final 3. He now welcomes him to The X Factor. Natalie says he sung the bajeebies out of it. Guy likes the country twang of his version.

Nathaniel Willemse

Singing: Try A Little Tenderness by Otis Redding. Try a Little Tenderness - The Very Best of Otis Redding

Judges’ Comments: Mel says Nathaniel’s voice is velvety and beautiful. She loved the commitment of the performance. Ronan says his voice is incredible. If she wasn’t married, Natalie would be proposing to him. Guy actually thinks it could be better.

Shiane Hawke

Singing: Beautiful by Christina Aguilera Beautiful - Keeps Gettin' Better: A Decade of Hits

Judges’ Comments: Guy thinks it’s the best she’s done so far. Mel agrees with Guy on the vocals but thought the overall performance was too serious. Ronan loved it.

Fourtunate
