The X Factor Australia Season Four – X Factor Celebrates the ‘Here & Now’!

Previous Episode: The X Factor Australia Season Four – Who Will Be Lost In ‘80s Fever?

X Factor tonight celebrates the here and now of the music scene- but are some of these hits really classified as ‘today’?

Luke tells us there will be amazing special guests over the next few weeks. The judges then talk up this week. The contestants were happy to find out they are singing songs they knew.

Now, to the singing.

Fourtunate

Singing: You Make Me Feel… by Cobra Starship. (A song from today, or late last year?!) You Make Me Feel... (feat. Sabi) - You Make Me Feel... (feat. Sabi) - Single

Judges’ Comments: Natalie says it was the best opening of the show so far. She praises song choice. Guy says it was a great way to open the show and called it tough. Mel was tapping her foot a little bit and loved their energy. She loved the routine. They killed it. Well bloody done!

Jason Owen

Singing: You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift (Forgot all about this song! Yep; totally today) You Belong With Me - Fearless

Judges’ Comments: Ronan very much loved it. Natalie loved how he was giving it his all. Guy says it felt like he was singing it to a special somebody. Mel makes a comment about him crying. A dig at some of Natalie’s contestants last week?

Shiane Hawke

Singing: Hometown Glory by Shiane Hawke Hometown Glory - 19 (Deluxe Edition) [Deluxe Version]

Judges’ Comments: Guy thought she’d be an Adele girl but has to say he was waiting for it to erupt but didn’t feel it. Mel says she always delivers, but says she’s a bit too ‘deer-in-the-headlights’. Ronan hears the other guys, but says she deserves to be here. He blames the song choice.

Nathaniel Willemse

Singing: Let Me Love You by Ne-Yo Let Me Love You (Until You Learn to Love Yourself) - Let Me Love You (Until You Learn to Love Yourself) - Single

Judges’ Comments: Mel loved the song choice but says his outfit didn’t match the song. Therefore, she felt he gave an uptight performance. Ronan thought the verses were weak but the chorus were strong. He expected more. Natalie says he is a star. He has everything this show is about.

The Collective

Singing: Lego House by Ed Sheeran Lego House - +

Judges’ Comments: Natalie says this is what they should have been doing for weeks. Guy loved the song choice and how stripped back it was. He felt William was nervous though and thought Zach didn’t seem to contribute much. It wasn’t perfect. Mel says they all held their own.

Bella Ferraro

Singing: Shake It Out by Florence + The Machines (There are so many more recent F+TM songs out right now!) Shake It Out - Triple J's Hottest 100, Vol. 19

Judges’ Comments: Guy loves what she does and has confidence she is an artist. He loved the performance but wants to see more ‘Bella’. Mel doesn’t think she tried to copy her and thanks her for it. Ronan has been worried for her but says it was magical.

Samantha Jade

Singing: Scream by Usher Scream - Scream - Single

Judges’ Comments: Mel goes to hug her and tells her she was hot and edgy. She wished she could have seen that since week one. Ronan also loves it. He says she’s ‘done it’. Natalie calls her phenomenal.
