Bee Afraid

They're nature's tireless workers - no wonder they call them busy. But you've probably never considered just how busy bees really are. Well, consider this, these humble little insects are responsible for pollinating much of the food we eat. Without them, we'd starve. And this is where it gets scary. Because, right now, a tiny parasite is threatening to wipe out our bees. It's already destroyed bee populations around the world. And, now, it's on our doorstep in
New Zealand. But, all is not lost. You see, there's one man who's fighting back. A dedicated scientist almost as busy as the bees themselves.

House of Cards

Hold on tight, because it's about to hit hard. The great mortgage meltdown is coming. Already record numbers of Australian homebuyers are going to the wall. And, if we're to believe some experts, there's a hell of a lot more pain to come. So who's to blame? Well, a good starting point is the yanks. You see, it was the greed of American bankers that caused the global financial crisis now pushing interest rates through the roof. In the US, they call it the "sub-prime crisis", after the dodgy, low security loans that sparked this meltdown. These loans were offered to millions of people who simply couldn't afford them. And when they began defaulting in droves, it set off a chain reaction that's now being felt all around the world. Including, right here at home.

Aussie Idol

He's the boy from the bush who cracked it big time. And it couldn't happen to a nicer or more deserving bloke. For years, Shannon Noll did it tough. He played the pub circuit by night while sweating it out by day as a shearer. Then, tragedy - the death of his dad - and the loss of the family farm at the height of the recent drought. But Shannon dusted himself off, packed up his guitar, and set off for the big smoke to enter a singing competition called "Australian Idol". And he's never looked back. He's now one of the country's biggest selling artists, with a swag of top 10 hits. And, as Ben Fordham discovered, he's now set for international stardom. It’s all a very long way from his tiny home town of Condoblin.
