A Good Man - Thursday 22 July at 9:30pm on ABC1

Chris Rohrlach, the good man of the title, seems like an ordinary Australian ‘bloke’ – a knock-about farmer from northern New South Wales mustering sheep.

But Chris has an extraordinary story.

Fourteen years ago, his pregnant girlfriend Rachel had a massive stroke which left her incurably quadriplegic with significant neurological impairment. Chris was undeterred. For him Rachel was still Rachel and he married her shortly after their baby was born.

That baby is now a teenage boy and Chris and Rachel have just found out they are having another child! If that wasn’t enough responsibility for Chris, life on the farm is tough and he desperately needs a second income. To the horror of many local townspeople, Chris decides to open a small legal brothel.

With the Gruen Nation starting next Wednesday (July 28) and Yes We Canberra representing a temporary return of the Chaser boys to the ABC in the lead up to the August 21 federal election, Wednesday nights on ABC1 have been reprogrammed meaning that At The Movies will jump around ABC’s schedule and United Stats of Tara will disappear altogether until September.

The Gruen Nation premieres on Wednesday July 28 at 9pm, and is followed by Yes We Canberra at 9.45pm. Both shows will be repeated at other times on ABC1 and ABC2 on Thursday nights.

At the Movies will run as follows:

8:30pm - Monday, February 8 on ABC1

Join the Four Corners team when they return on Monday 8th February at 8:30pm. The program is then repeated the following evening at approximately 11:30pm.

9:20pm - Media Watch Series Premiere

ABC3, Australia’s new digital channel for kids, will be launched today, December 4 by the Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd at the ABC TV studios in Ultimo Sydney with a special program, Countdown to 3 which will be broadcast on ABC1 from 5-6pm.

Mr Rudd will officially switch on the new channel in front of a live audience of school-children at 6pm in Studio 22, alongside ABC3 channel hosts, Amberley Lobo and Kayne Tremills.

Following the switch on, Mr Rudd will speak at a function hosted by Chairman of the ABC Board, Maurice Newman, Managing Director, Mark Scott and Director of Television, Kim Dalton in the Atrium.

The ABC will be providing a live feed to networks of the Countdown to 3 program from 5pm to 6pm and of the Prime Minister’s speech at 6.20pm.

ABC3 is a brand new world of entertainment, created especially for school-aged kids. Available on digital TV and online, ABC3 will broadcast every day from 6am to 9pm.

Last night, the Australian premiere of the critically acclaimed comedy/drama series United States of Tara, rounded out a strong night of viewing on ABC1.

It was a great night of entertainment overall with the ever popular music quiz show Spicks and Specks, kicking off the night with nearly 1.5 million viewers.  The audience stayed on to say goodbye to The Chaser, in the final episode of The Chaser’s War on Everything.

Over 1.2 million viewers were then treated to Toni Collette’s brilliant performance as ordinary suburban mum Tara Gregson, suffering from Dissociative Identity Disorder (formerly known as multiple personalities), in United States of Tara.

RollerCoaster is about to record its 1000th episode!!! Rollercoaster has been on air since January 31 , 2005

The 1000th episode of RollerCoaster will air on Friday 7th August, 2009.
