The launch of ABC3 on Friday December 4 has proved a winner with the youth of Australia, keen to be a part of such an historical occasion. The 5PM Countdown To 3 live show on ABC1 featuring Prime Minister Mr Kevin Rudd, Cassie Davis and Short Stack attracted an average audience of 192,000, peaking at 222,000 total people (5 cities).
ABC3 launched at 6pm, with 70,000 (5 cities) tuning in to watch the first hour of programming, and peaked at 91,000 (5 cities) later that night. The first night’s program, which featured local productions like Prank Patrol and My Place attracted a FTA share of 49% amongst our target 5-12 year olds.
The ABC3 website attracted a huge amount of interest, with 44,000 visits and 331,000 page views (source WebTrends) over the launch weekend (Friday 4th December – Sunday 6th December), and over 3000 children signing up to be members of ‘Club 3’.
