When Miss Marple (Geraldine McEwan) stays in London's fashionable Bertram's Hotel she enjoys the traditional décor, the impeccable service - and the unmistakable atmosphere of danger behind the highly polished veneer. Many of her fellow guests are gathered for the Will reading of Sir Richard Blake, the multi-millionaire who disappeared seven years previously. His daughter Elvira (Emily Beecham) and her estranged mother, the famous adventurer Bess Sedgwick (Polly Walker), are among them.
Tensions grow as jewel thieves, art dealers, soul singers and Nazi hunters are revealed to be among the guests. As the guests mingle in the hotel's opulent rooms, many questions are left unanswered. Why will Elvira and Bess go to such lengths for family friend Brigit (Mary Nighy) and hotel doorman Mickey Gorman (Vincent Regan)? What do the bumbling Canon Pennyfather (Charles Kay), German milliner Mutti (Mark Heap) and the handsome enigma Malinowski (Ed Stoppard) have in common?

AGATHA CHRISTIE'S MISS MARPLE: NEMESIS
New Series Sunday, 03 February 2008
A new set of murder mysteries based on the stories of world renowned queen of crime Agatha Christie, with acclaimed actress Geraldine McEwan (The Magdalene Sisters; Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit) as much-loved amateur sleuth Miss Jane Marple.
Miss Marple's sweet old lady exterior hides an excellent perception of human nature and a razor sharp intuition for solving crimes - murderers underestimate her at their peril! These new productions continue the series' trademarks of star name casts, high production values and stunning locations. In episode one, Miss Marple is faced with her greatest challenge yet when she receives instructions from the recently deceased Mr Rafiel to investigate a 'possible crime'. But there's a catch - she has not been told what the crime is.
