AIR CRASH INVESTIGATIONS: ‘Sioux City Crash’
Wednesday April 13
7:30pm (PG)
**PREMIERE**
United Airlines flight 232 experiences catastrophic engine failure and plunges towards the runway at Sioux City, Iowa, at speeds three times normal. In a dramatic emergency landing, it cartwheels into a field, breaks apart and explodes. Find out what was happening in the cockpit, how many passengers survived, and why it happened in tonight’s episode of AIR CRASH INVESTIGATIONS.
On July 19, 1989, United Airlines flight 232, a DC10-10 experiences a catastrophic failure on its number two tail mounted engine during the flight. The tail engine's fan disc splits. It severs all the hydraulic lines. The plane becomes uncontrollable.
A flying instructor heads to the cockpit and offers his assistance. Together they manage to wrestle the plane to the ground but the plane starts plunging towards the runway at Sioux City, Iowa, U.S at speeds almost three times the normal rate.
In a dramatic emergency landing, it cartwheels, veers right into a field, breaks into three parts and erupts in a massive fireball. Of the 285 passengers on board 112 were killed.
What caused the fan disk to split? Was it human error or a design fault?

I've just been letting everything pass me by lately. I haven't been up to much lately. My life's been dull recently, but that's how it is. I've just been sitting around doing nothing. It's not important. My mind is like a complete blank.

My mind is like a bunch of nothing. My life's been really unremarkable , but it's not important. I can't be bothered with anything these days. I just don't have anything to say lately.

Pretty much not much going on worth mentioning. I can't be bothered with anything recently. Maybe tomorrow. That's how it is.

The program detailed a reward offer by General Electric manufacturers of the plane's engines for the finder of the fan disc from No2 engine.
Comments were then made in general terms on these components followed by a picture of a jet engine carrying a Rolls Royce logo!
Was this an oversight or an example of American movie makers plumbing new depths of deceit!!
