A special one-hour presentation of Animal Emergency, the inspiring series which showcases the love, care and heartbreaking emotion in one of the world's largest animal hospitals, here in Australia, will air on Sunday, August 3 at 6.30pm on the Nine Network.

More than 100,000 unwanted, homeless and injured animals are brought to Melbourne's Lort Smith Animal Hospital every year, and Nine has been given unprecedented access to every facet of the organisation which cares for animals around the clock.

Hosted by Georgie Parker, this Animal Emergency special will reacquaint viewers with the dedicated staff and pet owners who made the series must-see family viewing earlier this year.

Series Final - Sunday, May 11 at 6.30pm on Channel Nine

In the series final of Animal Emergency we meet Duke the German Shepherd who is in a critical condition after vets suspect cancer; a puppy who has accidently skewered himself;

Claire has fallen in love with a stray cat, but doesn’t know how to curb it’s roaming ways; and Doreen and her cockatoo Michael who have been together for 50 years.

The owners are distraught when told Duke most likely has cancer. The family can only wait and hope while surgery will discover if the disease has struck and to what extent.

A cute young dog has a wooden bamboo skewer through his chest. No one knows how the skewer got there, but with the small tip still inside, the ambulance has been called to take the dog straight to hospital.

Street-wise Stray
Claire is a cat magnet. Strays constantly seek her out but this time she’s the one who’s fallen in love. Will Claire be able to hold on to her new relationship with the stray that followed her home, or will the cat decide to hit the streets again?

Young Bitsy the dog was bitten on the chin by a paralysis tick. Bitsy is fighting for her life as the toxins spread quickly throughout her small body. A Siberian Husky has been found wandering the streets and Cookie the cat has swallowed something foreign which needs to be removed.

In episode four we meet Coco the Labrador who has eaten his way to trouble; Bella the cat who’s been given a possibly lethal dose of dog flea treatment; a lamb found wandering around city streets; and an unexpected result when a moulting goose is brought into the hospital. Hungry pup on the loose Coco the one year old Labrador is brought in to hospital by ambulance after swallowing something big. Because the dog is generally such a scavenger, his owner believes the object could be exposed cables from the hot water service. With no time to speculate, Coco’s bowel obstruction is operated on fast. You won’t believe what emergency surgery turns up!

Bronson the Rottweiler is on the verge of death after eating snail bait; and we discover the trials of guinea pig ownership
when a much-loved family pet arrives with a mysterious illness.

Bronson the Rottweiler has eaten a one kilogram box of snail bait. He is convulsing and his condition is deteriorating
rapidly. Staff race against time to save the dog but he isn’t responding to treatment. As vets struggle to treat him they
