It's the very first live finals show for 2008 in the bid to find the winner of the record deal, management deal, car and $200,000 artist development fund - oh, and the title of Australian Idol 2008!

We're back at Fox Studios with the new Australian Idol stage and a packed live audience.

It is Idol's Idols night tonight (what a mouthful!). Our Top 12 will be singing songs from their favourite idols. Here's the recap:

What a fantastic start to the Top 12. Awesome song with great execution. The piano was a nice touch at the start and great to see him jump up and use the stage once the song really got going.

It's a fairly energetic performance from Roshani with a song that probably wont be too familiar to anyone. She looks great and performed like a pro.

Teale is a little pitchy tonight. The song is ok but seems to be missing the same energy that we've seen from other performers so far tonight.

Vocalists who sing their entire performance through their nose are a dime a dozen. There is nothing about Sophie that makes me think "star". She's been boring so far and with a faster song tonight, it made little difference.

Very much what I expected from Luke with a song that was well suited to his voice and character. It was almost a little cliched.

This is a much better song for Brooke which finally showcases that she has some pop sensibility. It was a little pitchy in places but a step in the right direction I think.

Thanh is such the cliched boy band singer. That's not necessarily a bad thing either. There is so much liquid sugar all over everything he does. It was great pop despite what Dicko and Kyle have to say.

It's a great, great song and she looks awesome but Madam sounds out of breath. Despite being incredibly reserved she is a totally different person when she's up on the stage with a microphone in her hand.

Jonny has to be the most boring singer in the history of Rock music. He seems to scared to actually act like the rocker that he looks like he is. Enough with the timid performances already!

A performance absolutely worthy of the standing ovation. A fantastic performance by someone who is only 17 but Dicko is right, she needs to hit the treadmill and lose some pounds so she's not as out of breath.

Mark just showed Jonny how rock should be done. That was a great end to a great show. Mark really showed that he was there meaning business and looked like a real pro.
