Network Ten and FremantleMedia Australia today announced the Australian Idol 2008 Audition dates including an exciting new development – for the first time in Australian Idol history the audition trail will now extend to include London & LA!

In Australian Idol's ever expanding search for the best singing talent they can find and with well over 1 million Australians living abroad, Australian Idol is on the search for talented ex-pats! With more Australians living in Los Angeles and London than the ACT, Northern Territory and Tasmania combined, Idol will tap into this fantastic and as yet unknown talent pool of Australians who are living and working overseas in Britain and the United States.

In Los Angeles and London our search is to find Australian citizens who have left our shores to chase their showbiz dreams, or Aussie’s who have headed off on another career path but are looking for a new challenge that could bring them home!

Australian Idol wants to give as many Australians as possible the chance to be part of this entertainment phenomenon.

In the past 5 years Australian Idol has created a fantastic platform for many singers who have gone on to become ‘household names’. Whether it's singing, acting or TV presenting, Idol is proud of its talent heritage and history-making record sales.

As Series 6 takes shape there’ll be no stopping the Idol audition trail as it weaves its way around Australia, Los Angeles and London.

In Los Angeles on Saturday 13th April at the iconic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, judging will be hosted by the man who knows the city so well, Kyle Sandilands, as he casts his eye over what the west coast city has to offer. Armed with celebrity guest judges, Kyle is ready to hear what our LA ex-pats have to offer.

Over in the UK, Ian "Dicko" Dickson will play host to the London auditions on Saturday 19th April at the historic Cumberland Hotel, which is nestled right in the heart of London's West End. It is common knowledge that London is a favoured stomping ground for many Australians and Dicko is eager to explore the talent pool that has congregated there.

Australian audition dates commence in Newcastle on 6 April and will continue throughout every state in Australia, coast to coast, in a bid to find exceptional talent.

There will be exciting times ahead for Australian Idol in Series 6 and for our three outspoken judges Marcia, Dicko and Kyle. More news and celebrity judging announcements yet to come…

Hi there,

I would like to find anyone who has tried out for idol b4. My daughter is trying out in Sydney on saturday 31 and just wanting to see if it is best to camp out or just go very early in the morning, does it take all day and night to get into the first part of auditions. Any advise from someone who has been there and done that would be great.

Australian Idol is a dream for me, and for the tens of thousands of teens, who are wanting to be noticed for their talent. I have been waiting 5 years, to finally audition for "Aus Idol" and this year, is my big chance. I dont think its all about ratings, but giving people the chance to live their dream.

Any one who is negative about australian idol, are just plain fools. People have dreams, my dream is to sing, sing from my heart, and from the bottom of my soul, for singing is me, any one who cannot understand this, should look into themselves, and find what they dream of. Saturday the 31st May 2008 will be a gloriuos day, for i will conquer all i have feared. Saturday will be MY day for MY dream, and i am going to live for it!

Australian idol should be about talent & recognition in the music industry not about who's better... alot of talented musicians audtion 4 this once a lifetime sing off competition yet are turned away because they are either A) too good or B)too old. This is actually quite sad because there are a few fellow australians other than myself whom age gracefully & still dont get a look in... I think that Idol should be an age catergory of 16-40 that way there can actually be some real talent hidden amongst us or which have purely missed out because of their age & Australia needs talent which can be marketable to all places of the world, as its said "too look thru rose coloured glasses we must take the beauty of their being from the inside first" Im a true believer that we need talent Australia not ratings!!!

What a disgrace you are to Aust talent... expoloiting your self to achieve what you say is your dream.. why dont you just have the guts go an audition like the rest of the hopeful talented singers intead of trying to get the edge in first and by the way your not that "hot" mate... look not only in the mirror but into the eye of reality..

I hope my very talented son kicks your a#*% in the adelaide auditions.

get some people whom can actualy sing on the show, i know its all about the ratings and to allow the people whom are only their for the idiot reasoning must just make you people sleep well at night! by now you should be looking at international competions in which the singing by far leads the shows way rather than the antics. Do you stop to realise why these winners become two second stars..... if and when your interested in listening to real people sing, in the way in which has created a position in the work force for people like whom ever is reading this; such as Elvis, mearle haggard, johnny cash, and so on! Wake up and smell the coffee Australian's only watch because this is the only thing on tele at the time. Australians from the start of time have recognised and supported true artists, like the Beatles and the Bee Gee's! So this year don't disapoint and do it for our ears not the ratings.
