It's Australian Idol night on Australian Idol. Helping mentor the remain ten singers is Darren Hayes of
Savage Garden fame. Darren was on the judging panel at the London auditions with Tina Arena and will be guest judging again tonight.
Darren says he is torn now that he's invested and is expecting big things. Of course, Kyle is a new man having tied the knot since Idol was on the box.
Here's the line up and songs.
Thanh Bui
You're The Voice
Voting Details
This is one of the biggest and most recognisable Australian songs of all time and while it was a big song and well performed, nor the audience or the judges really seemed to be that into it.
Chrislyn Hamilton
Chains
Voting Details
Another big song for Chrislyn but despite the concerns about her ability to nail it, she managed to do just that - once again.
Tom Williams
Light Surrounding You
Voting Details
Loved Dicko's comment "And before any inhabitants of the land of the long white complaint letter arc up, we know Evermore are from New Zealand but we choose to turn a blind eye to that." No matter, close enough. A bit like the performance. The voters wont care, and he'll be here next week.
Teale Jakubenko
Black Fingernails, Red Wine
Voting Details
Nice to see Teale dirtying it up a bit. This is another great Australian song being given respect by an up and coming star.
Roshani Priddis
Heading in the Right Direction
Voting Details
Roshani has pulled things back for an intimate performance with an accompanying pianist. It's a nice change in tempo and a great emotive performance.
Wes Carr
Friday On My Mind
Voting Details
This is verging on being Beatle-esque. Great performance, energy and use of the stage and audience. Darren is definitely right in saying he's a superstar on stage.
Luke Dickens
Flame Trees
Voting Details
I'm sure there were some better Jimmy Barnes songs Luke could have sung. Luckily for him, Sophie is yet to sing.
Sophie Paterson
Don't Hold Back
Voting Details
Sophie once again holds back and rips the guts out of a great Australian song. That's a new low for boring Sophie IMHO.
Mark Spano
Age of Reason
Voting Details
Another classic Aussie song which suits Mr Spano quite nicely. He does seem to be cruising though.
Madam Parker
Hook Me Up
Voting Details
Another up tempo song for Madam but this has to be the weakest vocal performance she's given us with a few pitch problems.
Bottom three for me this week would be Sophie Paterson, Mark Spano and Madam Parker.
