It's ARIA's night tonight so James is missing, leaving Andrew G to host Australian Idol by himself.

Since it's a big night for Australian Music, that's the theme of tonight's show.

This week the Idols have been in the studio with Mark Holden getting some tutoring and tips on recording.

Matt Corby is playing at the piano and is singing Thirsty Merc's 20 Good Reasons.

I'm not a big fan of Thirsty Merc but I am of Matt Corby although his playing seems a little erratic. It was a simple acoustic performance which has certainly made his screaming fans in the audience happy. Someone threw some roses but they didn't quite make it to the stage and hit Kyle. Mark thought he was fantastic. Dicko thinks he's turned the corner in crafting who he wants to be but he thinks that if he strung all his performances together it would be one dimensional and he needs to have a showstopper. Marcia really enjoyed his performance. Kyle thinks he looks a little upset and it turns out he was nervous and didn't think he played well.

Natalie Gauci is also playing at the piano and is singing the Divinyls Boys In Town

I don't like this song at all. It started off soft and then the guitars kicked in and it seemed strange for Natalie to be sitting behind the piano. It was a nice move to climb up on top of the piano bit vocally it was a bit rough. Dicko thought Mark did a sensational job with her and her tough times have made her performances real. Marcia thought she became an outstanding entertainer tonight. Kyle says he's always heard that a session in the studio with Mark Holden will change your life forever. Mark throws another fit and gives her a touchdown.

I'm starting to feel a little disappointed by the songs tonight. And then Marty sings. Marcia thought that was really nice and emotive and she's very happy to see him comfortable. Kyle thought it was really beautifully done and he nearly had a tear. Mark says he's finally managed to find some good songs he can connect with. Dicko thinks he's a lazy performer normally but that was pure, simple and great.

Tarisai Vushe is a little angry today and promising to be real and stop people calling her fake as she sings The Veronicas When It All Falls Apart

Well, I'm sorry, but it still feels fake. And the song is too slow. And why did they straighten her hair? This isn't Tarisai's best performance by a long margin. Kyle says he sees the real her and tells her that she needs to get used to the fact that people wont like her and she just needs to be herself and stop putting on a facade to keep some people happy. Mark thought it was fake as well and he didn't see what he saw in the studio. Dicko thought it was fake as well. Tarisai is offended. Marcia says there really isn't anything she can say.

Carl Risely is bringing some Little River Band to Australian Idol tonight with Reminiscing

Carl has some fantastic tone. I'd be incredibly surprised if he didn't make it into the top 2. Mark says it's a genuine pleasure to watch him from week to week and thinks he's a real entertainer. Dicko says he's one of the real joys of the competition and thinks the woman will be turning out in droves for him. Marcia loves how he always makes an entrance. Kyle says he's one of his favourite artists of the year.
